Mickey's Fun Wheel, Ride or Not?

Hey DISers, I will be going to for the first time in the Fall. I'd like to know if I should avoid the Swinging version of Mickey's Fun Wheel. If you've been on it, please let me know how it was. Thanks!

We call it Mickey's Wheel of Terror:rotfl2:

Go ahead and give it a try.....my daughter and I did and we survived. :thumbsup2

The ride is tame enough that there are no seat belts. However, if you are afraid of heights, or hate that falling feeling, then you might want to try the non-swinging ones. We go on the swinging gondolas, and love them, and think they are so much fun. If you go on either, make sure you're ready to take some cool pictures when you are at the top. :)
I think the lack of seat belts is why so many adults find this ride terrifying! Trust me, once down it is almost impossible to get off the floor of this ride, particularly if all you wife will do is sit there and laugh. At least she had a great time :-) .

OMgosh, I'm enjoying the visual! :lmao:

I do not like this ride at all. I love Screamin' and I have no problem with Tower of Terror. This was terrifying. I refused to go on it again. I didn't even want to try the stationary cars after riding the sliding ones. But this last trip my family got me on a stationary car (they wanted to ride the sliding, so it was a compromise). I have no desire to ride again. I think the problem is it is just too slow and the ride lasts too long. When you're on a coaster you move quickly and with the Tower of Terror it's over soon, but this ride is just you rising slowly higher and higher in the air and then way too slowly back to the ground. Then there's the waiting for everyone to get on and off while you're stuck at the top. No thank you.

I was very apprehensive before finally trying it this time. But I was fine even though I have a fear of heights and suffer from motion sickness. I was riding it with a friend who claimed that the left side swings less than the right side. Not sure if this is true as we only did the left side.

When it started to swing really bad for the first time, I closed my eyes for a few swings and tried to concentrate on just enjoying the swinging motion. That really helped me.

We tried it for the first time back in May with our 4 year old. The swinging is a bit unnerving at first, especially when the ride is doing its full rotation and not moving and stopping to load others. The lateral movement isn't so bad, its the actual swinging when the cage gets to the curved part of the track; it can feel like you are going to turn upside down. But of course you don't. We all find the ride to be fun, but it's not worth more than a 5 or 10 minute wait.

DH and I really enjoyed the swinging gondolas! However, we are both not prone to motion sickness. I can see why this would be tough on people that have sensitive stomaches. If you are prone to motion sickness I would not ride it because when the wheel is doing it's whole rotation you are swinging quite a lot where it is non-stop! However, I may be in the minority here but I thought the swinging was kind of relaxing lol.
