Mickey's Fun Wheel - great views or breaks the bubble?

I've never been on it. I didn't know they had non-swinging ones. I'll definitely look into that for us! So glad I popped in here!

I was surprised at how scary the swinging cars are, I am sure those barf bags are used regularly too! My strategy is to get in a stationary car as late in the evening as possible. You can see the lights of the cars racing through cars land, kind of magical for the grandson and me. If you are really lucky, and you are one of the last riders on for the day, you don't have to stop as much either.

The view is spectacular if you can handle the ride:

If you get on one of the swinging cars on Mickey's Wheel of Terror you will probably not be watching the view but more likely hanging on for dear life!! :scared1::rotfl2:

This was me. I was fine on the non swinging ones. Even being up higher. Reaffirmed that I have a fear of falling not of heights. :)

Then I went on a swinging one. And then the ride messed up. First when it was our turn to get off (the last three to switch in our go around - they will start on car 1 and load everyone as it goes around once, then it goes around a full time without stopping, then they stop at 1 and let people off and back on again) and it didn't stop to let us off (and I'm already freaking out and want OFF) then we get almost three quarters of the way around with it acting a bit weird (I think they were trying to stop it at different points to see if they could figure out what was wrong) but without letting anyone else on. Then at that point it went backwards a bit.. when we happened to be at a point w3here doing so would make us wildly swing again.

Finally we get back around and they let us off. They were giving everyone free fast passes that ended up stuck on it... if I hadn't been scared of the ride would have been SOO worth it, we weren't stuck long and got to skip a long line with the free fast passes. DH thought it was a definite win since he wasn't scared.
I insisted it was used on TSM - as I called it then, a nice safe ride that doesn't ever leave the ground. Figured if we got stuck its all good worse case we have to get out and walk back!

1 of every three cars doesn't swing. They are just normal cars that stay on the outside of the wheel, because they don't move to the inside they do go higher, but I would take the height over the swinging any day.

Im so trying not to laugh , really Im not ... but lordy . How many people with fear of heights go on this ride and then get scared??? or vomit . Or did people not know they would have that reaction??
I guess Im one of the lucky ones that those kind of things dont worry me.. :p

My DH is terrified of heights but I'm okay with them. We'll do the non-swinging cars first. Probably won't need to to do it again (but night sounds cool!), but he'll do it just to prove he can.

My boyfriend and I like going on Ferris wheel rides together so we decided that we just had to go on this. Sounds like it hasn't been the most romantic experience for a lot of people, though, lol. I'm sure we'll be fine. I'll bring my nausea pills, lol.

One of the most important elements of Disneyland was never seeing outside the berm while you were in the Park.

I don't find that to be important. Heck, if you climb Tarzan's Treehouse you can see outside, and that's a pretty original ride for DL.

Sometimes you hope for the best.

Other times you ride the non-moving side and then realize that watching the moving cars is making you more ill than you could ever have imagined. I nearly needed a bag just from watching those cars moving and slamming and moving some more...

I like the view (from a non-swinging car); it doesn't bother me that I can see outside of Disney property. It reminds me of being a kid and going on the Rocket Jets, excitedly telling mom or dad (whichever one was in the rocket with me), "There's our hotel!"

Yikes.. that would be horrible.. so far for me that has not happened.. that why I asked.. not trying to dis anyone.. just was wondering if you cant do heights or the movement , then why chance it.. but I guess you really never know until you do chance it , yes?

The view is amazing!
Did not interfere with the magic at all.
I am afraid of heights but was fine.
The Jumping Jellyfish terrified me.
I do advise to avoid the swinging ones.

Because it's rotten to be at a themepark with all the cool rides, and your family and all that, and not ride things because of fear.

Disney keeps their rides pretty darned safe, and so you know that you're very unlikely be actually be harmed by one of their rides. If you're going to try it, might as well be at Disney. I'm afraid of falling, but on a Disney ride the chance of that is low. So...you take a chance.

I'm not the hugest fan of coasters anymore (you would never guess I grew up going to then-Marriott's Great America in the San Jose area and would ride The Demon and Willard's Whizzer alllllll the time) but I go on them because I hate being a chicken. And weirdly, last time we were at Universal Orlando, I rode the Hulk again (DS could go on the big rides alone, but that makes me sad, and DH can't ride them yet, so I go with him) and *almost* liked it this time. This is a far cry from the "we're going to die" thoughts going through my head on it the last 3 times.... There's hope for me yet!

Other rides...sometimes they make me sick, sometimes they don't. Again with Universal...if I'm hungry or I JUST ate or I am dehydrated, Forbidden Journey turns me absolutely green, and I'm ruined for hours. If I'm properly fed and watered, however, it's basically OK.

Just my experiences. : )
