Mickey's Fun Wheel - great views or breaks the bubble?

Planning a trip for October. DCA wasn't around last time I visited Disneyland. One of the most important elements of Disneyland was never seeing outside the berm while you were in the Park.

Obviously this ride lets you see outside the "berm", I'm wondering if it lessens the experience, or if the view is good enough to make up for it.

I enjoyed the view. It was a great view of the rest of the park, with the mountains in the background. For some reason my eyes just skipped over everything in between. :)

I am with you.
Selective vision is the key to happiness in almost every situation.

I like it and if you haven't experienced it then I highly suggest trying it at least once. It gives you a vantage point that can't be beat and you may see things that you may not notice otherwise.

Only thing that stopped my son from freaking out was watching the building of Carsland while we were stopped at the top.. I Cant remember seeing anything so overwhelmingly out standing that I thought of there goes the magic of Disneyland.. Have a great trip....:mickeybar

I like it for the views, but it truly is nausea inducing. We joke about the barf bags they provide, but it can really make you ill.

It is a good view. Especially if you spend most of your time (you probably will) looking north towards the parks.

The swinging one is a lot more intense than it looks. I may opt for the non swinging next time but that goes up further and seems more terrifying to me.

waste of time. The thing stops way too much to let guests on and off. It was fun to get the first view, but after that, you are stuck watching everyone else getting all the rides you aren't.

Yeah, I have absolutely no intention of going on the swinging ones. That looks horrifying, lol.

Did the non swinging ones........Goes waaaaay higher than the swinging ones. :scared:

I didn't think to look past the park while on it, we just enjoyed seeing everything from up above. Definitely a one and done for us though.

I never got a chance to look at the view as I was clutching the barf bag and hanging on for dear life while my DD was screaming because she has such a phobia of vomiting (doing or viewing). Next time I will be sitting at the Cove Bar drinking a Mickey's Fun Wheel while DH takes the kids.

I love riding the stationary cars and looking at the view. I don't mind seeing the area outside of the park. It gives you an idea of how tightly packed things are around the resort, in contrast to how much open space is around WDW. It's not necessarily pretty, but it's the way it is. It's kind of fun to look at the freeways and roads and know that you don't have to deal with them at the moment because you're at DCA!

I rode the wheel of terror a few days ago and I have to say the lagoon/pond was drained and it looked awful. I hadn't noticed it much before getting on the wheel. Hopefully they finish the work on the WOC lights soon and fill that puppy up.

If you get on one of the swinging cars on Mickey's Wheel of Terror you will probably not be watching the view but more likely hanging on for dear life!!
Mickeys Wheel of Terror!!! bawahahaha! That is one ride I will NEVER get on! I imagine the views are great, but I just don't do heights. Do they really give you barf bags when you ride it?

My dh took my girls on the swinging gondolas once, against my advice. My stomach-of-iron daughter came off absolutely green. If you do it, I would recommend the non-swinging gondolas.

Yes, they actually do have barf bags. And the non-swinging ones are just as bad because they still sway in the wind, but unlike the others, they aren't suppose to move. Not as nausea-inducing, but still terrifying if you don't like heights.
