Mickey's Christmas Party- Do they really kick you out?

I've only ever been to Disneyworld at New Year's, when all the Christmas activities are included in ticket price. I was a bit miffed to discover that if you go in November, you have to pay extra for the fireworks. And not just $10 extra. $67 extra! Not worth it (yeah, I know other stuff is included, but not $67 worth).

My question... do they really kick all of the potential shoppers off Mainstreet come 7:00?? I find that unbelievable. I can see them not letting people into the hub or back into other areas of the park. But can you just stay on Mainstreet and shop and at least experience the snow and maybe see the fireworks from a distance? How strict are they?

THANKS ALL!

It hasn't happened to me personally, but I'm pretty sure you get kicked out from what I've heard.

The CMs do sweeps through the lands/Hub/Main Street asking to see wristbands. Those without are guided to the exit. You can't enter a ride, restaurant or even restroom in the park after 7 p.m. without a party wristband. Why would you think it's fair that you get to stay and see the snow and fireworks that thousands of people play extra for, but you decided to stay for free because you "didn't think it was worth the money?"

The parties don't take place every night. You can see fireworks on the nights they don't have the party without paying extra. It's Wishes rather than Holiday Wishes (which is what's shown at the parties), but you're not completely shut out of seeing fireworks by not paying the extra money for the party.

You could walk over to the Contemporary and go outside on the 4th floor concourse and see the Holiday Wishes fireworks there.

It might be crowded though.

Or does anyone know if you can still watch them from the Polynesian?

I'm just trying to come up with some options for you to see them that aren't in a park.

I know they do check wristbands in the park and won't let you in the stores after 7pm on party nights. The closer it gets to 7pm the more active the CM's are about checking wristbands - including asking people on main street to see them.
I've been to a couple of Christmas parties in the past and that is what happened.

If you want to see Holiday Wishes without going to the party, try eating at CA Grill that day. Even if you can't get reservations for the fireworks time, I believe if you eat there earlier in the evening and keep your receipt, they will let you up to the observation deck at the restaurant to watch the Fireworks from there (and they also pipe in the music).

They need to clear the park of people without party tickets. If they allowed people to wander through the stores, it would be much harder to stop people without tickets from hanging around for the parade at 8:00.

Well - it does annoy me that they have these extra ticketed events at time when the park would have been open otherwise - but I would be very annoyed if I paid $67-70 (on top of my regular ticket) and they did not kick people out.

At least Universal has deal to add these things on to your day ticket - for example HHN is $40 more if you already have a day ticket - a full price ticket is $96. I'd be much less put off if Disney did the same..but I guess they don't need to - it always sells out.

Whoa whoa whoa... calm down there. Sorry I'm not rich... I just wanted my husband to be able to experience some Disney Christmas magic and didn't realize it was going to cost so much extra, which we cannot afford. We were just tacking this day on to the end of his work trip as it's the only way we could afford it, and I was a bit disappointed. So I was trying to see if he could at least experience a small piece of it. I think your rudeness was a bit uncalled for and not in the Disney spirit at all.

That being said, thanks everyone else! Sounds like it probably won't be worth the trip for us, which is unfortunate wince we're moving to Idaho at the end of the year and who knows when we'll be able to come back. So sad. :-( Wish it was included the whole holiday season! I saw it once years ago at New Years and it's pretty fun. But we just can't pay an extra $130 for it (nor would it be worth it for a free cookie. ;-)

The party is a ticketed event. Why should they let people without tickets stay and watch for free what those of us with tickets paid for? It's not really fair for people to be able to stay and watch the parade and fireworks for free when others paid $67 each to be there. I am amazed that people even ask if it's OK to hang around without a ticket. Of course it's not OK. If it was, who'd buy party tickets?

You probably get answers that are a little short because this question comes up repeatedly every year during Halloween and Christmas. Everyone wants to try and find a way to experience the party but not pay for it. Bottom line is you can't.

It's not worth it to you, but it is to a great many others. They sell them out at $67 a head.

Her response wasn't rude at all! She's 100% right.

Don't worry, there is plenty of christmas Magic, as the park will be decorated! Even just walking down Main Street on your way out is christmas magical. They do offer all the Christmas celebration events included with your regular day park ticket, but not until closer to Christmas, usually the last week before.

The same happens at MNSSHP. If you don't have the wrist band and its after 7pm........they "ask" you to leave. It shouldn't be a surprise because the party dates are published well in advance.

If you go in the morning and afternoon, party days are typically less crowded than non-party days because of the early close. You'll get a lot in before 7:00, assuming you arrive in the morning.

Instead of the one day MK tickets which you planned to buy anyway I would buy the MVMCP tickets and enter the park at 4pm. Your and your husband will have time to get on some rides before the party starts and then enjoy all the party fun. :santa: You can even make FP+ reservations from 4p - 7p.

If the Christmas activities are what is most important to you, you could also consider just buying the party ticket. They allow you into the park at 4 with a party ticket even though the party doesn't start until 7. I think the price is a good value for 8 hours in the park.

Excellent idea- I don't think anyone could argue $67 for what amounts to at least a 1/2 day ticket is a bad value especially including the party events.
