Mickey's Christmas Party- Do they really kick you out?

We saw CM's asking people to leave characters lines prior to 7pm. These weren't party specific characters but the characters weren't coming out until 7pm or later. The CM said they could stay in the park until 7pm but they couldn't line up. For rides, you are allowed to get in line until 7pm. :thumbsup2

If you had someone shoo you out before 7, you had a rogue CM. Guests are absolutely entitled to use every minute of park time up until 7.

If I was in Gaston's at 6:30 and someone came through, I would just smile and say fine......then sit there and finish my food.

I guess a lot of it boils down to how the CM approaches it. If they are coming through to remind everyone the park closes early and they just have X minutes left, no issue with me. If they try to get me to leave at 6:30 or 6:45, then that's not right. But I'm not going to let it bother me because I know I have until 7 and will stay until then.

Character lines have always been handled differently. If they didn't close off those lines in advance of 7 PM they would have to make party guests wait until well past 7 to even start seeing the characters in that spot.

Likewise, they close the character lines at the party in advance of the midnight end time, while they continue to let people into ride lines up until midnight.

Yes, it was handled very well last year from what we saw. Princess Fairytale Hall used to be the worst (not an issue anymore really since the Princes are gone)

Whoa whoa whoa... calm down there. Sorry I'm not rich... I just wanted my husband to be able to experience some Disney Christmas magic and didn't realize it was going to cost so much extra, which we cannot afford. We were just tacking this day on to the end of his work trip as it's the only way we could afford it, and I was a bit disappointed. So I was trying to see if he could at least experience a small piece of it. I think your rudeness was a bit uncalled for and not in the Disney spirit at all. That being said, thanks everyone else! Sounds like it probably won't be worth the trip for us, which is unfortunate wince we're moving to Idaho at the end of the year and who knows when we'll be able to come back. So sad. :-( Wish it was included the whole holiday season! I saw it once years ago at New Years and it's pretty fun. But we just can't pay an extra $130 for it (nor would it be worth it for a free cookie. ;-)

We too are usually on a tight budget when we go, and I understand your feeling. Please don't throw your plans out the window just because of not being able to see the fireworks! Just being in Disney during the holiday is experiencing Disney Christmas magic! It's possible that you could get a reservation at O'hana and see from there. They lower the lights and play music when the fireworks happen at MK. Just an idea :)

If you're deciding if it's worth the extra, we usually do pay the extra and feel it's worth it. Seems like a lot but you do get more than a free cookie. You also get to see the special parade and there are many shows you can see exclusively. Whatever you decide, I hope you have fun.

Rude, huh? And it's not rude to insinuate that anyone who has bought tickets to MVMCP is rich and willing to to waste hundreds of dollars on a "free cookie?"

You aren't the first person to ask about staying for the party without paying and you won't be the last. My answer to those who come before and after you is exactly the same as I said to you.

There are plenty of ways to experience Christmas at Disney, many of the best ideas have been given in this thread. It would be a shame for you to bag the whole thing just because you can't stay in the park without buying a party ticket.

:thumbsup2

We bought tickets and certainly are not rich! I wish! LOL

...(snip)......
My question... do they really kick all of the potential shoppers off Mainstreet come 7:00?? I find that unbelievable. I can see them not letting people into the hub or back into other areas of the park. But can you just stay on Mainstreet and shop and at least experience the snow and maybe see the fireworks from a distance? How strict are they?

THANKS ALL!
As many have already posted, yes, they do ask anyone without a wristband to leave the park.

In my experience, they will not allow you to even purchase anything after 7 PM unless you have a party wristband and the CMs staffing the registers are actually very good about enforcing that policy. They also do sweeps through the shops to encourage people without wristbands to leave.

It would be very difficult to stay past 7 PM without a wristband.

This is not such a "bargain" as it sounds if the guest already has (or will buy) multi-day park tickets.

While comparing the cost of a one-day MK ticket to the cost of a single MK Party ticket,
it appears like the Party ticket is comparable or better.

However, if you compare the cost of an MK ticket in a, say, 5-day (or more) multi-ticket, that cost drops dramatically on a per-day basis.
But, the Party ticket price remains the same and (comparatively) costly.

True. Was just thinking that they could still get 8 hours out of a party ticket and not have to use one of their regular ticket days on the same day, if they really wanted to experience the party. Use the regular ticket on another day.

I have an AP so party tickets are always an 'extra' cost for me. I don't quite understand all the intricacies of the package tickets and base tickets etc. ;)

Before 7:00 (starting around 6:30, in our experience), CMs start reminding you that if you don't have a party ticket, you have to leave the park at 7:00.

After 7:00, you'll either be told to lead the park, or will even be escorted from the park, depending on the time (the later it is, the more likely you are to be escorted) and how far into the park you are.

We always go on our arrival day and don't buy an admission ticket, but get a MVMCP ticket instead. It's a great tradition that we've been doing for the past 10 years! :santa:

THIS! ^^^
That's what we do every year. Low crowds and wait times. It's a tradition in our family too! :santa:

I've only ever been to Disneyworld at New Year's, when all the Christmas activities are included in ticket price. I was a bit miffed to discover that if you go in November, you have to pay extra for the fireworks. And not just $10 extra. $67 extra! Not worth it (yeah, I know other stuff is included, but not $67 worth).

My question... do they really kick all of the potential shoppers off Mainstreet come 7:00?? I find that unbelievable. Not sure why you think it would be okay to even attempt to stat in the park for something you know you didn't pay for.

Theft is what that is called.

Our first day at the parks is a party day and we decided not to pay the extra, especially since we have 2 days at MK and the 2nd one is a regular day. At the end, we decided against because of time. To get our money's worth, we'd have to do the whole party (until midnight), and probably not get back to the hotel until 1 am. Then we would need to leave by 8 the next morning to be at Epcot when it opened at 9. So for us, we decided that the rest and extra sleep was more important in addition to saving money. That was our choice, but it might not be yours. Just another thought to add in. :)

I don't understand this :confused3 Presumably, since you talked about seeing the fireworks and all, you were planning to pay for park tickets for that day so why not just buy tickets for the party instead. That way you get to experience all of the Christmas stuff without having to fork out extra. You can enter the park from 4pm on a party day, so you still get 8 hours of Magic Kingdom fun (and for less than a one-day ticket anyway).

It used to be that MK closed at 6pm to regular guests on party days. So at least these days the park is open to everyone right up until the time the party starts. But back then that 6-7 hour was GREAT for getting rides in if you were there for the party!
