Does anyone know if anyone is interested in a sign that was posted at MK in the Mickey's Birthdayland area in late 1988/early 1989? Is this worth anything? It is odd shaped, with MM wearing a bowtie and birthday hat in front of a peach colored castle. They were hung all around birthdayland. I purchased this at MK back in the late 1980's. PLEASE.......DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS JUNK OR WORTH ANYTHING???? Trying to clean out my home since I moved to a much smaller home. thanks.

Everything is worth something.. Ya just have to find the right person. I would try ebay as we don't allow selling here on the DIS.

Among the Walt Disney World lamp post signs, this is probably still one of the most sought after. Most definitely one of my personal favorites. They were sold to "interested parties" through a sign-up sheet at the old Disneyana Shop. I think they were $150.00 plus shipping. I'm pretty sure they were all over the Magic Kingdom, not just in "Mickey's Birthday Land".

Walt Disney World has never had the collector fan base that Disneyland developed over the years. Plus, most categories of Disney anything are "down" recently on eBay. If you have to sell, post it on eBay starting at $150.00, but be sure you find out exactly what USPS shipping will be be and mention that in your auction.

Don't give it away! Have the patience to find the right person who really wants it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your information and response. I felt so stupid when another responder said I should know it was not ok to "sell" items at this site. I just looked up Disney Collectors and came upon this site. I sincerely appreciate your information and kind response.

Just want to make sure readers know that the first response to my "thread" (I don't have a clue what a thread is...), who mentioned that selling on this site was not ok was not the person I meant when I said that someone was not so nice in emails to me.........telling me I should have known it was not ok to "sell" items on this site. I appreciated very much both responses to this question. AND now I know it is not ok to sell at this site..........thanks to both responders for their information.....very, very, very much appreciated.

Using the info I got from my most appreciative responders this "thread?"....can anyone suggest whether it's worth holding onto.........value may go up with WDW becoming more collectible or just sell it now??? Hurricane damage makes selling ANYTHING an option, but, not desperate for this amount. Thanks.

It depends on how bad you need the repairs. Based on what I've seen on eBay recently, you'll get less than you paid for the sign. For right now, I'd hold on to it until there is more interest on eBay for Disney World street signs.

You may consider putting the sign on eBay for a starting price of say $350. Maybe it won't get a bid, but I think that would be a fair price considering the art, age and rarity of the piece. Sure, if it didn't sell, you'll lose a couple of bucks for the insert, but at least you would still have the sign without giving it away!
