Is the Mickey's Bar-B-Q worth the money. We have made a reservation for May 15.

I have also booked the Segway Around the world for the morning of May 15.

This is are first trip to Disney World. We are going to be at the Fort May 14 Checking out May 21.

Hi and welcome to the board

The Mickey's BBQ is "ok". My girls (13 and 10) were bored and wanted to leave as soon as we were done eating. Our 6yr old danced for a little bit and then he wanted to leave too. The food was probably our least favorite of the trip. It was buffet style cheeseburgers, hot dogs, ribs, mac and cheese, coleslaw, cornbread and ice cream. It also included beer, lemonade, fruit punch, iced tea and ice water. It is done under a huge pavillion and there is a country band that performs. I think it is probably better for people with younger kids who want autographs and photos with the characters. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale were there. You can also dance with them.

We much preferred the Hoop Dee Doo...food was awesome and the kids loved the show.

You will love the Fort and will find lots of useful information here. There are some neat "free" things at the fort as well. Every night there is the campfire/sing along/outdoor movie and then you can go down to the beach at 9:45 for the electric water pagent and the Magic Kingdom fireworks at 10.

After doing it once about 5 years ago I probably wouldnt go back. It was crowded and almost impossible to get to the characters, even back then I thought that "line dancing" had run its course. The entertainment just didnt suit us, the food was good and the beer was cold though. Now that our boys are older (16 and 14) I am positive that they wouldnt like it.

For my money you cant beat the HDDR !

The Mickey's Bar-B-Q is $89.00 for two with tax and tip.

It's less money than the Hoop Dee Doo. It's better suited for small children. As they aren't confined to their seats. You sit family style at picnic tables. We went when my son was 9...he loved it..and my daughter was 13..she was at the age, when everything is lame. For little ones..I remember it to be a good time. We had great fun. The characters came out several times..and everyone had pictures and autographs. We happend to enjoy country music..and thought the band was very good. At the end of the evening the characters danced among the crowd. It was held in the outside screened in pavillion..so no A/C..but the fans kept us cool. I don't believe it's offered all year round. The food..was typical..hot dogs, hamburgers..chicken.

I've heard good and bad about this show..and I'm glad that we may have caught it at a good time. When the crowd was into it.., the band was good..and the characters spent a good amount of time with the kids. We weren't rushed at all. At the end of the evening they danced about with everyone..and since the kids interacted with them so much already, no one was rushing or pushing for more pictures with them.

While I wouldn't recommend it for older kids.. the little guys would enjoy it.

Not sure if you have done the Hoopdeedoo but they run late shows that might not interrupt your segway tour.....

IMO for the few dollars more the hddr will blow the bbq away.........

It is debateable if either one is worth the money though......

The Mickey Bar-B-Que is at 6:00 pm. The Epcot Segway tour is at 9:00 am so there is no confilct with the two.

That's what I thought. Maybe it was a joke that I didn't "get", I just didn't know why tellnotails wanted us to be careful.

Some have debated whether the hddr priced out some blue collar families.....

If the mbbq is an alternative to the hddr price wise... well they are comparing apples to lemons...imo

Of course you can talk about money. I think this whole "money" thing goes back to a thread awhile ago dealing with complaints about money and how much things cost and if they are worth it or not.

IMO, Disney is not a cheap place to visit no matter where/when you stay. I know that going in and plan on it. I didn't eat one meal there that I would've paid that much for back here at home. But it was a vacation and all part of the experience of Disney.

Well, I'll get brave here and say that, yes, I think the BBQ and the HDD are both outrageously expensive!! I love both of them, but I do think they are overpriced. I haven't been to the HDD in many years, just because of the price.

But, if I were going with somebody new that hadn't been there before, I would fork out the "moolah" for it just because I love seeing other people go for the first time! It's a great show, and the food is good!

But, I really wish the price was lower.

I'd certainly agree with that. Having seen HDDR few times..we don't want to lay out the cash for it again. Especially being 5 adult admissions..it would be close to $300.00. It's not something I'd do every visit that's for sure. However, I would also recommend HDDR to anyone going for the first time, if money wasn't an issue. My niece and nephew saw it for the first time a few years ago...and my sister thought they would be too young. They were 6 and 7 at the time. They laughed their little heads off! Soda coming out of the nose laughing!
I did also enjoy the BBQ...having seen the HDDR a few times..it was a nice, less expensive alternative.
Here's something else to throw in here..anyone ever been to the Dixie Stampeed?...Was thinking of something different...I know dare I to venture out of Disney ..but was curious as to how this show compares to either the HDDR or BBQ?
