The BBQ is very cute, but you have the weather to deal with.
IMO, 8 and 10 year boys would have a lot of fun at the HDDR. Corny jokes, fried chicken in a bucket, and as Robo said, a massive dessert.
FWIW, if anyone has extra time to kill, the Fort also has horseback riding for adults and children 9 and up. We had a great time doing that and on the Segway tour (16 and up).

To take this a bit further...
I have boys ages 8 & 10, which would likely be better for them? Backyard BBQ or Hoop-De-Doo? Would they find the BBQ "babyish" (a word I often hear from them)?
