After 1.5 months of stalking religiously the online reservations, I finally got our MBYBBQ reservation. Of course, after getting that, I've read some negatives. My son will be 2yo and loves music, characters, etc. so I think this would be good. My questions are:

1. What tips do you have about getting good seating? I know with our DxDDP we only get cat 2 or 3 seating but I read somewhere that people need to arrive an hour before the show just to line up to get good seats but then you stand in line for an hour until you get seated? How do they expect kids to not go stir-crazy standing in line for 2 hours? Please let me know if you have experience.
2. Does show start at exactly 6:30pm?
3. When can people start helping themselves to food - at 6:30pm or whenever they are seated if earlier?
4. Is there a playground really close by? Someone mentioned that that was what helped occupy her kids while she waited on the line to be seated?
5. After the show ends, what is the transportation like back to your resort? I heard it can be a mob scene. I am staying at CR, so was thinking the easiest is to take the water launch back to MK to transfer monorail or just walk back to CR. Any suggestions?

Any other positive or negative feedback? I'm holding on to the reservation until I decide whether or not I want to go.

Thanks!

We did this with DD6 and DD4 and they had a great time!

To answer your questions:

We arrived about 15 minutes before it opened and had no problems getting a good seat. It's not like HDDR where you stay seated during the show. There is a lot of interaction and dancing and moving around. It's more like a dance party than a theater. The only thing we missed out on was autographs with the characters before, and they did do that during the break in the dancing too.

2. Does show start at exactly 6:30pm? I think dinner opened up at 6:30 and the show started slightly later, after people had a chance to help themselves to BBQ.

I can't help with this one. We didn't use one.

Any suggestions? We left about 15 minutes before the party ended and did not have to wait too terribly long for a launch.

We were there in June and it was a little hot, but a great time. Minnie took my daughter by the hand and they got to lead the Locomotion. Both girls got to dance with all the characters. We got great pictures!

thanks for the details!!!

are parents allowed on dance floor? my toddler is only 2 although he loves to dance, he prob won't want to go by himself with a bunch of strangers on dance floor. would they allow at least one parent to stay with him to dance?

I found out there's a boat that connects ft. wilderness and CR but not too frequent, it would be perfect for us to just take that so I'm planning to leave early if necessary to catch the boat.

Yes adults are welcome to accompany their children onto the dance floor.
