The first year we went (2009) Goofy was there for the photo & in 2010 it was Chip & Dale. We were really bummed we waited too late in 2011 to get a ressie. It was the one the kids wanted most.

We went last year--a big group of my extended family. Grandma, Grandpa, 5 adults, 4 kids ages 9, 5, 5, and 2 1/2. It was everyone's favorite thing we did that week! We liked the food. And the kids liked the unlimited ice cream bars for dessert! They had all sorts of frozen ice cream bars in a freezer, I think my son tried several. Outside of the pavilion by the restrooms, they had sidewalk chalk available and some other game for the kids (I forgot what it was, though). My 9-year-old nephew enjoyed that area. The 5 year-olds loved dancing with the characters! my 2-year-old was afraid of the characters, so he would only go up there if I was holding him. The characters come out a few times, with breaks in between, and the crowd definitely thinned out as the night went on and there were more chances to get up close to the characters. The the adults loved seeing the kids so happy. I want to go again!

We have been three times now. The most recent, October 2011, there actually wasn't a character outside before the show. That could have been an anomaly. I think it is fun, but my kids think it is fantastic. They both listed it has their #1 place to eat in Disney. I also wanted to mention the country music band, which I really enjoy. I also like the corny jokes from the hosts.
