Mickey's Backyard BBQ

We have been to Disney numerous times but have never tried Mickey's Backyard BBQ. For those who have tried it, whatare your thoughts good and bad?

We really enjoyed it and the food was good. Of course, the unlimited alcohol is also a nice bonus. Our son really enjoyed dancing with the characters. It is a bit pricey though, so we might not have tried it if we hadn't be on the dxddp.

we did it 2 years ago and the kids really enjoyed it. We are not drinkers, but i could tell alot of the adults enjoyed the alcohol. We just booked our trip for sept and were just having the discussion with the kids to see if they wanted to do it again and all four said yes. So i guess i will be booking it..lol

I thought this was a lot of fun. If you go, arrive early! They started letting people into the main area serving food 1/2 hour before the time given on our reservation. If you arrive even earlier, there's an area for some games.... and not far from the BBQ, there's a completely separate resort activity that has pony rides.

The BBQ has a country music band on stage, the characters come on the floor and dance with everyone. A few characters come to the tables to greet you and they MAY sign an autograph. Usually characters are on their way to the dance floor or on their way back to cast areas.

There's also a rope / lasso demonstration that was neat... maybe too long.. but all the kids stayed attentive. Must be me with the short attention span!

The food was OK... buffet, edible, nothing special. I was disappointed in the turkey which was like some kind of canned/processed meat. For goodness sake, it was Thanksgiving, couldn't they have had real cooked turkey, not processed? Oh well...

Still a fun, good time and I'd definitely return. Probably more fun with a large group. I think they did that line dancing thing too that I can't stand!

Toward the end, the crowd thinned out and there was more opportunity for photos and dancing with characters.

We did this on our honeymoon and had so much fun!

We also enjoyed the drinks!

We loved it! At the time I had a dd3 and ds15mo. The food was great, we loved everything. My ds who is so shy ran up to dance with Mickey, so that was a highlight for us. My dd also had a great time dancing with Minnie. The music was great, the band was very high energy. I can't say one bad thing.

We like the idea of this, but my DH is so picky! I'm afraid he wouldn't eat anything except corn and ice cream. Does anyone know if the chicken is really barbecue-y or if it's just a light smoke flavor with no sauce? I'm not sure we have time this trip anyway, but for future reference.

Bud, Bud Light, Wine, maybe Sangria but I might be mixing that up with Hoop Dee Doo. Nothing special. The wine wasn't too bad. I don't like bud, bud light - tastes like water to me.....no flavor.

It's included, and there's no other bar options to order anything else.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ is one of our kids favorites. We have gone twice before and as soon as we started planning our next trip DS3 immediately requested the BBQ! They just love dancing with the characters.

The food is very similar to the Trail's End - with all you can eat frozen treats like Mickey Bars which were a big hit with my kids. If you go early, you get a better seat - closer to the stage. Dancing with the characters is a big hit with the younger kids, and the cowboy rope tricks kept our older son engaged. A good evening for the whole family - we'll go again.

Alot of people like it, but to me is was horrible. Just not my cup of tea. Not really the "cowboy type of person". If it wasn't for the alcohole, which wasn't even that great, the night would have been a total loss. Even my 5 & 7 year olds hated it.
