Can anyone give me some info on this? I thought I read that this is seasonal. My DH has let me do all the planning and NOW he tells me this sounds like it's up his alley!!

I'd love to hear more about this too! We have set this up for Oct 30th and hope that it's a good time. I know it's BBQ food which is fine but I think the kids may get a kick out of trying to line dance etc.

We were so lucky to get an ADR for T-giving week!! We've always wanted to go to the BBQ!

From what I've read, the characters do not go to the tables, they stay on the dance floor. Which is fantastic if you have little ones who hate to sit for long meals, they get to run around and dance! This was the main attraction for us!!

There is no assign seating, I believe you sit at picnic tables with other guests. The buffet is available throughout the show and the beer and wine is included!

It's in the pavillion at FW, which is very convenient to the marina. The best route there is via boat from MK, CR or WL.

The pavillion is open (yet covered) so should it be a chilly evening, be prepared with a jacket. (FYI, if anyone's taken the FW Segway Tour, that's the same pavillion where the BBQ is held)

I'd love to hear some recent reviews. Anyone gone recently??

I'd be interested in other people's opinions too. I have 2 kids who love Mickey and dancing (although they've never line danced). I thought this would be a great combination. But I haven't heard many people talk about it. Most people talk about Hoop De Doo. Please let us know! Thanks.

The HDDR is offered everyday with 3 shows a night. MBYBBQ is seasonal due to weather (it's outside) and only available twice a week, with one show per night. I'm also not sure how long it's been around. The HDDR has been around FOREVER!

Yep! That's what I said!

DH was just so happy to hear that they encourage the kids to get up and dance with the characters rather than sit still in their seats for the entire meal. This one might be more enjoyable than the HDDR if you have toddlers!

They should just advertise: Kids get to dance with the characters while Mom and Dad get unlimited liquor!

We were ther October 4th and had a great time! Our kids are ages 6 (twin girls) and we have a 12 yr old. It can get a little crazy when the kids all go to the dance floor, but the 6 yr olds LOVED it. It was our first night at Disney when we went so they got to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale. The food was great! You can get there early and enjoy some cocktails while the kids do sidewalk chalk, hulahoop, or play checkers before the program starts. The dinner/show lasts 2 hours. They also have a cowboy that comes and does some rope tricks. My 12 yr old even sat up front to watch that!

We are going in November, and looking forward to it. I saw a video someone took on utube, and it looked like a great bit of fun. We are actually going our first night there - since we are driving, it seemed like a great way to stretch our legs.

We were also there 10/4!

I think it is only held on Thur and Sat nights March-November.

It is very easy to get to in Fort Wilderness, especially if you are coming by the boat from MK.

The pavillion is very large and nice. You sit at long picnic tables and it is open seating. We got there around 5:30 for the dinner/show (starts at 6:30). When we checked in we went down a path and Goofy and I think Chip were out so we got some photos with them. Then we were herded into this waiting area where they had all types of games and sidewalk chalk out for the kids. It was nice and not real busy. Servers walked around with Beer, Lemonade and Fruit Punch.

They let us in around 6:15. We grabbed a table right next to the stage and then hopped in the line for food. They had I think 4 lines and they moved quickly. I never saw a long back up for the food. The food was REALLY good. Nothing fancy, but it tasted great. I really liked the ribs and beans. The chicken was also good and my DH said the burger he had was good too. My son ate several cobs of corn. They had big coolers along the back wall to refill your drinks and the beer and wine were dispensed from little bars in the back corners. They also had big coolers with lots of ice cream treats, including Mickey premium bars. My DS loved those! My mom was a bit disappointed with them not having soda as an option though.....she loves her Dt. Coke.

The characters made several appearances through the night along with the hosts of the show (I can't remember their names) and the band. The dance floor did get crazy when the characters were out, it was hard to get my 2 1/2 year old out there near the characters as the bigger kids seemed to monopolize their time. The cowboy who did the rope tricks was good.

By 7:30 the place started clearing out...and by 8 there weren't a lot of people left. I thought that was crazy considering the price you pay for this meal! That was when a cowboy guy taught the line dancing. My mom enjoyed that! The last appearance by the characters wasn't busy at all and they do a little good bye dance at the end. Cute.

We enjoyed it but it is a bit pricey. Definitely stay til the end, it got much better then. We really liked the food and who doesn't like all you can drink beer My only complaint is the bathroom is kind of far away from the pavillion. Also we were there on a very nice, balmy night. We were comfortable, but it must get nasty under that pavillion during the summer when it is so hot and sticky.

We were just there for the first time on Thursday 10/2 with dd2 and dd4, and LOVED it!!

-There's no autographs once the show starts, but Goofy, and Chip and Dale were outside willing to sign books and pose. No Photopass folks though.

-Get there early, like and hour early. They have lots of fun stuff for the kids to do;sidewalk chalk, bubbles, hula hoops... and that way you'll get a good seat. About 5:45-6:00 they'll start walking around with trays of fruit punch, lemonade, beer, and wine. If you like ice, keep those cups as there was no ice inside.

-The food was VERY good. Ribs, chicken, cornbread, hot dogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese, salad, corn... and then there were coolers of ice cream and Popsicles. There was red, white, and blush wine. And I don't know about the beer cause we don't drink beer.

-Don't forget bug spray, it's outside!

-It does get crazy on the dance floor when the characters are out, but my girls got to dance with almost all the characters by the end of the night. I just stayed with my kids to avoid any losing or misplacing of the little ones.
We also all wore the same shirt that night, so just in case we got separated, it would be easier to reunite, cause there's no way I could have heard my cell.


We're not sure why we never went before, but were very glad that we chose to go this time. The kids loved that they were allowed to get up and move around, sit down by the stage, and be part of the show. And keep in mind, mine are little (2 and 4yr), so I bet kids a bit older would like it even more. The food was yummy, and the show was good.

Before we went to Disney in August I searched high and low for any information on Mickey's BBQ, we had scored 5 tickets but I didn't know much about it. I found limited information and most of it negative, so I was very apprehensive about going. Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a seasonal show that is offered on Thursdays and Saturdays from March through December. (taken from the Disney website).

The day we went it was humid and HOT HOT HOT!!! We were taking the boat launch from MK to FW, we arrived at the launch area well in advance but ended up not getting on the boat because it was full. This caused us to get to the pavillion later than we had hoped but all was good - the kids 9,5 and 2, still got to get their picture taken with Chip and Dale. We were then allowed into the pavillion area to pick our table and we quickly went and got our beer. I'm not normally a big beer drinker but it was nice and cold and gosh did it go down good I was so afraid that it was going to be too hot to eat since it is only a covered shelter but the fans seemed to keep it respectfully cooler. No bugs either, don't know how Disney does it, but I never even saw a fly. I was also expecting mediocre food - but it was really good.

When the characters came out to dance though it was like a mosh pit oven on the dance floor. My 2 boys wanted no part of it, only my dd dared to go up to see Minnie, but she got a turn to hold Minnie's hands and dance with her. Mickey and Minnie came back around after their first "dance time" to sign autographs and take pictures. Did I mention the beer was cold! My dd was tired and was crying that other people were dancing with Minnie so we had to leave early.... oh ya and the beer was cold. I'm still undecided if it was really worth 2 meal credits but I'm glad we did it. It took hours out of our day and our jam packed vacation. My boys (9 and 5) were unimpressed, they preferred to look at the souvenir cart. There were some pretty pushy parents and kids on the dance floor, you can imagine little sammy dancing with Mickey, while being video taped by dad and mom pushing Suzy towards Mickey so that she can also have a turn.... I also don't think I would call it "line dancing", but I don't think advertising pre-school mosh pit would be a big crowd pleaser .
Oh ya, and the beer was cold

Sounds like fun - went to HDDR in August and brought DD pasta mariana as she is vegetarian (plus English thick cut chips!) - prior to booking HDDR the CM's at Disney Dine had no idea whether we could order vegetarian so we took our chance and it came good but we had free dining.

In May when we go back to WDW want to do Mickey's BBQ so it would be good if we knew if this was an option again. As we are paying for DDP this time, wouldn't like to pay 2 adult TS credits (she is an older child) and for her not to eat anything

that is very true pigby and definitely a good point. When we go next year I don't think I would want to use 2 TS credits for my 10 year old (who will then be counted as an adult) I know he wouldn't get $80 worth of enjoyment or food for that. We went during free dining so it didn't hurt quite as much, but I think it would be a waste for him. Definitely something to think about
