Has anyone tried Mickey's Backyward BBQ at Fort Wilderness? Is it fun? What type of food? Is it worth 2 meals? Thanks, :confused3 :confused3

done it twice, it only counted as one meal both times we were there. not two meals. Foods nothing special but the experience is cute if u are prepared. First time we went our DD was 3 and got trampled all nite when the characters and the kid mob line danced on the dance floor.she didnt enjoy the BBQ evening. we returned 2 yrs later and had fun, she could stay on her feet better while the line dancing mobs pushed and danced with minnie etc.
show was always cute, chara pix were great but lightning fast encounters:eek:
food isnt great, its edible tho, cornbreads yummy, then beans hot dogs salad, messy ribs(I think there were burgers, not sure) and lemonade,I dont drink but on the way to the BBQ we rode the boat with 4 23 yr old guys who just went to drink the beer, scary at that.....
:scared1:

We vsit WDW often and therefore tried this twice, I dont need to return for a while but Id be willing to go again no prob.

Thanks for the info :)

MS today said that it counts as 2 meals but I did not see it listed on either of the DDP as requiring 2 meal plans. I wonder if he was wrong or they changed it. :confused3

If I recall correctly, Mickey's BBBQ was 1TS credit on the 2006 and 2007 dining plans, but, is 2TS credits for 2008.

It's a "Dinner Show" like Hoop Dee Doo and the Luau, so I'm pretty sure its been 2 credits? (I'm not sure since we paid OOP both times) We've gone twice when my son was 3 then 4 and he had a lot of fun both times. It is kind of controlled chaos on the dance floor (with most parents behaving worse than the kids unfortunately) but if you know that ahead of time it's easier to deal with. Mickey and the gang are out on the dance floor, and they do come around to the tables for autographs/pics. If you like Country Western music, the band is decent - they do some fun things while the characters take a break. If you don't like country music, beer and wine is available to help dull the "twang" of the guitar. (Just kidding).
I agree with the food assessment - it's burgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken and ribs, salad, watermelon. All edible, not horrible, but not really terrific either. Did anyone mention they have coolers full of Mickey Ice Cream bars around for dessert? that's a plus too!
If you decide to go, GET THERE EARLY! Like at least 30 minutes early! The seating is long shared picnic tables. You want to try to get one on either side of the dance floor...easier to keep track of the kids and see the other parts of the show.

We were very excited to go last year however we ended up not liking it one bit. It was not what we expected...it's basically a buffet style meal ( hot dogs, hambergurs, etc....) I felt the people running it were very rude....the characters rarley stoped to sign autographs.....totally not worth 2 meals on the dining plan.....

We went in 2006 with DS 3 and DS 7 and had a blast ! It was 2 TS then. We'll be going back in May !

I just looked back at my notes and it looks like it was 1 credit in 2006, but switched to 2 credits in 2007.

ETA: Just saw bubba's post. I guess my old notes are wrong.
