is this show geared more towards little kids? I have an 11 year old step son who loves good BBQ and I'm pretty sure he would love the food, but would he like to show.

My husband and I are going to disney with his son and mother and have plans one night for DH and I to have a special night by ourselve, and then for my step-son and MIL to have a special night together somewhere as well and I was thinking this show might be perfect for that, but was just wondering how this would appeal to that age group? would another show be more fitting?

Normally when people ask about it, I'm quick to recommend giving it a try, but with younger kids. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it for a boy that age. The characters come out and dance with the kids, which I doubt he'd be into. They play country western music, and do some other things when the characters are on a break, but the fun part for the little kids is getting to dance with Mickey, etc.
Frankly, the food isn't that good either. It's OK - burgers, hot dogs, chicken and ribs...but if you're going because you like "good BBQ" this isn't the place.

Sorry if this wrecks your plans - but it's kind of expensive and I'd hate for you to be disappointed.

What about our 9 yo daughter who loves characters and loves to dance? :cool1:  Will she still be "too old".

Thanks!

no, I appreciate your advice, I want my step-son to have the best time and I want him to have a special night with his grandma, they are very close. and I kinda thought he might be too old for this.

We have the DDP so this would be 2 table service points - is there any other shows or meal that might be good for him and his gma to go together that are more his age??

If your stepson enjoys good bbq...this is NOT the place to go. I thought the food was lousy (and I generally do not complain about Disney food). The entertainment is geared toward young children and country fans. It's definately not worth 2 credits on the dining plan.

ITA with PP.
I would recommend the HDDR (Hoop Dee Doo Revue). It too is 2 credits, but the food is better, not a buffet like Mickey's BBBQ, they serve your table family style. Also the show is entertaining, unlike Mickey's BBBQ.

We went to the BBQ in August 2007 and my girls ages 11, 7, and 6 LOVED it! They are bummed that it isn't happening in Jan 2008 when we will be there again. They had a blast dancing with the characters and probally ate 15 slices of watermelon for desert. We had a blast.

forget the bbq and go with HDDR

the bbq was a total waste of time and money and the food was bad. My kids were 9-10 while there. They don't talk about it, but do talk about the HDDR
