I would like to do Hoop-Dee-Doo, but the menu at Mickey's BBQ seems to have more that my grandson will eat. We are looking to go early December, so extreme heat should not be an issue. How does the seating work? Is it first come-grab your seat, or is there assigned seating? If it is first come, how early would you have to get there to get decent seating? Also, is it worth two dining credits?? Thank you!

Backyard BBQ is slightly chaotic but a lot of fun. We brought our 3 daughter's last time we we were at Disney and they had a great time. It is a rush to get seating I would suggest getting there at least 30 minutes early but there will be plenty of good seats. Your grandson will probably want to to get up and dance/interact with the characters so your actual seat becomes less important. The food is fine but nothing great. I think it is worth the 2. Have fun.

You didn't say how old your grandson is so I will go with this.....

If he is less than 5...go with the backyard BBQ. Even though it is chaotic the little ones really enjoy it. They are up dancing with all the characters so they get to have a lot of fun and burn off a lot of energy.

If he is over 5, the HDD is a great choice! I have never seen my kids laugh so hard! At the time they were 6 and 7. The only thing is that the kids are required to sit at a table through the whole show which my girls had no trouble with but a younger child might.

Hopefully this will help you make a decision.

My grandson is 6. I would love to do HoopDeeDoo. I love it. But he likes burgers and dogs better than chicken and ribs. Got some planning to do...and decisions to make!

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember the kids being offered hot dogs at the HDD. You might call and ask. They all ended up with chicken, but it seems to me there was something else they could have had.

It's a great show for a 6 year old. Really. That's just about the age where they can enjoy it. Most of it went over my 3yo's head, but the 6yo about peed her pants laughing so hard.

I don't know if they still have this part, but when we did the BBQ, they had a Roper entertain for about 30 minutes. My son, then 4 1/2, LOVED it.

My family liked/likes the BBQ better because the food and entertainment fit my kids' personalities better.

I definitely think it's worth 2 credits if the adults will be partaking at all of the adult beverages.

We arrived about an hour early and we were about 2nd or 3rd in line, I think. We got pushed back though as the crowds came to line up and some families rudely pushed ahead of us (but this happened to us at HDD, too). I think sometimes it just happens when you have little ones in a group, adult (or high school and up) -only groups push ahead/cut.

We arrived about an hour early and were 2nd or 3rd in line. My girls were chosen to open the BBQ by hitting a triangle and declaring it open. We were then escorted inside to seats along the side of the dance floor. There was already a family sitting there when we arrived. They hadn't been with us in line. There was a bit of a rush behind us when they did let every one.

I went with my Daughter on a trip for her 5th birthday, and hated it. The dance floor was supposed to be so the kids could interact with the characters, but so many parents were (literally) pushing kids out of the way, as to get pics of their children with Mickey and the gang.
Also the acoustics were so bad you couldn't understand anything that the performers were saying.
They broke down about 1/2 of the buffet after 45 minutes, and stopped restocking - so most of the food was cold and/or dry.
We left after about half an hour, and wound up eating at the hotel.
