Our girls will be 2 1/2 and 4 when we go. We're planning many all you can eat/buffet for several reasons....lack of options on kids menus, 2 1/2 yr old is too young for dining plan so on a buffet she can eat what we eat...and not having to wait to get an order taken, wait for food, etc.

What we have planned so far...

Chef Mickey (bkfst)
'Ohana (dinner)
Biergarten (dinner or lunch)
Norway Princess (probably dinner)
1900 Park Fare (dinner)
Crystal Palace (bkfst or dinner...not sure which yet...any opinions??)
Kona Cafe (got to give DH a break from buffets)
Teppan Edo

Should we also consider Hoop De Doo or Backyard BBQ? We'd probably just pay OOP instead of using 2 table credits and I'm not even sure if it's going to be worth over $100 for all of us to do either of these. What do you think...especially with 2 1/2 and 4 yr olds. Are both of these better to wait till they are older or would they be something good at this age?

THANKS!

I haven't been to either, but I'll explain how I made a decision when I was booking.
People seem to enjoy both. HDDR is indoors and BBQ is outside. We are going in December this year (I think you are going in '09 if I read your siggie right?) and I was a little worried that the weather might be too cold to be comfortable eating outside at night in December.

Hoop De Doo is miles and miles better than Mickey's BBQ...

To get an idea, go to YouTube and enter 'Mickey's Backyard BBQ', there are several vids there that will give you a good idea what goes on....

See I'm one of the few who prefers the BBQ over HDDR. Especially if you have such young kids. At the BBQ they have the opportunity to dance and interact with the characters. HDDR is a little long. And I think it's FREEZING in the dining hall too so it would be the same as being outdoors if not worse.

Just got back, did Mickey's BBQ. Our res was for 6:30, got there real early 5:30. we were like the 10th family in line. By getting there early we were able to get a good table to the right of the stage. I was under the impression that seating was assigned, but it wasn't it was every man/woman/child for themselves.
