Mickeys Backyard Barbecue

Read the menu and the price. Seems a little high for hamburgers, hotdogs and ribs. Is it worth the money ??

that was my exact feeling but I hoped someone would tell me it was a great evening with other entertainment

hopefully someone that has gone will respond with positive or negative comments

We went last year. It was one of the things I had never done at Disney in all the years we've been going. It was our first time going in the summer, so we thought we would try it. I would not recommend it. It was hot, loud, noisy. I love almost everything about Disney, but even my kids (11, 9, 5) were ready to leave before it was over. The food was so-so. Lots of time is spent on waiting on line for characters. I would definitely skip this, and do the Hoop- de- Doo instead.

We agree 100% with everything said above about Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It was a huge disappointment! Sorry Mickey!

hi all
we were going to do mickey's backyard bbq untill we saw the prices for it (altought dh was all for it when he saw free beer)but seriously not that we are mean:rolleyes: just thought a little expensive considering my ds is a picky eater:D

We just got back from WDW and attended the bbq with a party of 18 including infants and children. It was the best time! We loved every second. Food was delicious, especially the chicken. Character interaction was awesome. Dancing, playing, signing books, taking pictures without any problems. And believe me it was crowded. The charcaters came around the tables all night. Music was fun. And for the record, the price includes beer and wine which was nice to have at a bbq. We plan on making it an annual event. You should really consider giving it a try.

Oh my! I had made up my mind NOT to go, then I saw the last post, LOL! Oh well!!! I am still on the fence... will watch for a few more posts!

Amaris, I have this booked for December, but I am like you and I am counting on all the wonderful disers to lead me in the right direction. From all the posts I have read on this, it sounds like whoever has attended this during the hotter (weather) seasons has not enjoyed it and whoever has attended this during the cooler seasons has enjoyed it. I still have a couple of months to decide, but as far as weather is concerned, I don't think I will have a problem. I will probably wait until the last minute to decide whether or not to keep my priority seating (of couse, based on opinions I read on this board!)

Good luck in your decision and if you do decide to go, please post a report so I will know how much you enjoyed it!

By the way, when were you planning on attending this?

We have 79 days or so and ticking.. So end of Sept or early Oct :)
We will have to see what the weather will be like at that time.. was hot last time we went at that time!

I attended this just about 1 week ago. It was hot but bearable. We were just having too much fun to notice. I think it is all what you make of it. Anyway, have fun deciding.

Oh no! We have booked the Backyard BBQ for next week sometime. My little ones don't do well in the heat...and to tell the truth neither does DH. Is it totally outdoors? I thought it was in some kind of a hall...is there any air conditioning, fans, anything???

It is a covered area with open sides. I do not remember any fans, but certainly no air conditioning.

We did the BBQ last year and did not enjoy it. The characters did not visit the table areas - a change since last year? Too crowded on the dance floor and for the character lines. Food was very so-so. I wouldn't recommend it. We did Hoop-De-Doo this past June and had an absolute blast. Now that I would recommend.
