This will only make sense to anyone who read my reports a few weeks ago and I'm hoping it doesn't get moved to another board (please) where it will make even less sense but I just wanted to let people know -

our Walmart has started making bagels! We're so happy!! They're nowhere near as good as as the WDW ones but it doesn't matter - it's the happy memories they give us that are important. We've decided to shop at Walmart more often...!

We look for those Disney memories, too!

We can relate anything to Disney!!!

I hope this doesn't mean you won't feel the need to hurry back!!
Seriously, I'm happy for you. Everyone needs a good bagel to help preserve the memories.
Nice to hear from you.

Cool! Happy memories ;)

Peg

That's Great!! But you've got to go back to Disney so we can have more of your wonderful reports.

Only two months til our trip!

Good to hear from you:)

That's great poohshoney! It's not that Walmart is making bagels that surprises me, it's that there are Walmart's over there at all! I didn't know that...of course there are LOTS of things I don't know.LOL There is a Walmart within walking distance of my house, of course I've only walked to it once.

I'm so glad you can get your bagels!! ;)
But there are still lots of other reasons to go back!!
Writing us another trip report is one!! :D

Great to hear from you. You and Roland deserve such good fortune. No don't let those AP's expire without another WDW turn.

Cheers,
DisneyVirginia

How exciting!!:bounce: I'll never forget how fond you were of those bagels.:D

Only you, Poohshoney, would get so excited over a Walmart bagel. We should all be so un-jaded!! Hope you're slathering lots of cream cheese over 'em!!

Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing our joy!
Ramelle - when do you go? I want to be able to think of you - is your dh excited yet?
jennymouse - I've still got my fingers crossed for you, the discounts should be out soon! Walmart bought out a German chain a few years ago and they've just bought out a British one. I´'ve never been to an American one so I can't compare. We like ours as it has FAR more choice than the other supermarkets we have round here and the veg is much better too. And of course it has bagels now as well!!
Well Gillian - I did single-handedly start a mini stampede. There was a woman giving out free samples of salami and the poor thing was being completely ignored - not me though, I never ignore food if I can help it! And it was delicious, so I went back to ask her where I could get some. I told her it was delicious and her face lit up "Have some more then!" As luck would have it, people heard me and all of a sudden there were hands everywhere and she had to start frantically making more. And when I went to the shelf to get some it was completely mobbed! I did think of going back and asking for commission...!
VickiVM you made me laugh - it's the little things in life which make it all worthwhile!
WDW is still in the hands of the gods - but we're planning a day trip to a German theme park at the end of August so I thought I might write about it if it's ok to write non-Disney reports. It might not be Disney but we're looking forward to it anyway!

Hi there, Poohshoney!

We are headed to the World on 9-15 and will stay to 9/21. My 39th birthday is 9/20. What a wonderful way to celebrate another year. :p

My husband is excited. We made the last of our evening dining reservations last night and I got him involved enough to pick out a few places. He thinks he's just going to make me and our 9 year old daughter happy, but I think he'll love it, too.

Would love to hear about the German theme park. We hope to get over there in the next few years so he can practice his rusty 4 years of high school German.

Enjoy the bagels!

I am so happy for you!!!! After reading your wonderful trip report, I was telling my husband at home that night about your bagels. He got a real kick out of it because I can't tell you how many places that we go to for day trips or vacation that we say to each other before we go, "Hey, while we're there, we can get..." and it's always some food item. I know that while I was in England as a teen once, I really enjoyed the ketchup. It tastes different over there! He loved that someone from Europe had that same feeling about vacation food as we do for something that we take for granted! Enjoy your bagels!!!!! :earsgirl:

Just wanted to say I had a blast reading your trip reports! Just found them today and I also spent a few hours with you and Roland! I love detailed trip reports, it makes me feel like I really get to know you!

I am glad your dream came true finally! I felt the same way in 1999 when I got to go with my best friend(DH) and share the joy with him. He's hooked now...almost as much as I am! He looks forward to the WDW chicken strips...as soon as I mentioned WDW, he says "and I can have my strips!!!!!" :D

Thanks for taking the time to write about your trip! I really enjoyed reading all the "terms" that you use that I am not familiar with...."car park"....."nipped" (that one was hilarious!) ...."phone was engaged!" :p Very entertaining!

Hi Ramelle! Absolutely best place for a birthday, don't forget to get your badge! I bet he'll be hooked as well - what's not to love?! If you feel your ears burning, that'll be me thinking of you, not the Florida sun!
Deb, we do just the same. Whenever we reminisce about anywhere you can be sure food plays a big role! I'd never have thought of ketchup thiough but maybe that's because I don't like it. You've got Roland wondering though - he's trying to remember what the different ketchups tasted like!
Thanks Cass! And we loved the strips too - they're SO good! I had to laugh at you liking my `terms´ - you see I don't know you don't know them! But I was so proud of myself for asking for the bagels `to go´ (we see to take away). Language is fun!

Tell you what... I'll send you real American bagels, if you'll ship over real German pretzels, and pommes frites sauce, and chocolate, and Haribo gummy bears, and... ;) We lived near Kaiserslautern, Germany when I was a child... would LOVE to go back! Nothing better than Black Forest ham and fresh rolls or pretzels to go with it. I have MANY fond memories of German food... schnitzel (what I wouldn't give for a good jaegerschnitzel!)... spaetzel... sauerbraten... those WONDERFUL hamburgers at the market downtown (though they were soooo good, I wonder if they were all beef...), so I can certainly appreciate your "if we go here, we can eat..." :)

I saw your last trip report post (#19), and had to look up the rest - I had a WONDERFUL time reading them! You have a way of writing... and I do believe Roland is a dear! ;)

When you go to the German themepark, write a trip report, even if you only post it on the community board. We visited Holiday Park and another (Phantasialand? something to that effect... it was THE destination) when we lived there... would love to hear about your trip!

Hi dizneegirl! Oh yes - the Florida pretzels aren't a patch on ours! There are booths selling them everywhere here, even in the village we live in - I have a sesame one EVERY time I go into town. We're puzzled by the Pommes sauce - could it be mayonnaise? It's usually either that and/or ketchup. Spaetzle was one of the things we always used to bring back with us when we lived in the UK and now I have to take them back for my aunty and uncle. And can you believe it - in 23 years I've never had Sauerbraten! Bad Carol... It was a few years before I tried the Black Forest ham - it just looked too raw - but I'm well and truly hooked now! I've been thinking though - I think plane tickets might be cheaper than the cost of shipping all that lot!

Roland is a dear. I still can't believe my luck! I'm glad you enjoyed the reports - we had such fun writing them and it will help keep the memories alive forever.

We're quite near the Holiday Park but it doesn't appeal so much. I've been to Fantasialand twice but it was 20 years ago - I think it might have changed a bit! My in-laws raved about the Europa Park, even my hard to please BIL so we're very hopeful. I hope I'm allowed to post on the TR board - it's my favourite board and I think it has the nicest Disers of all! Take care!

Hi poohshoney! Please please please post that report when you get back! There are so many reports that aren't "a patch on" yours LOL

PH: Have spent the most wonderful morning living WDW vicariously through your reports - they are fantastic. Didn't think you could top that off - but . . .

OMG - my husband (the Brit raised in Switzerland now living in Texas) LOVES Europa park - next to the Disney parks (his family used to come every couple of years to vacation in America before they moved here 6 years ago) it is his absolute favorite and I have seen many pictures of it from their family vacations. PLEASE PLEASE - if you do a trip report - post it or email me or something. My husband would LOVE to read it (he actually wanted to stow away in your luggage but seeing as it's now September, you may be back already - so no chance of that ;) )

Thanks again for all the time you spent on these reports - I know they make a wonderful record for you, but they definitely share they joy with others - kind of like you said about Walt's dream . . .
