I tried to post this in a Disney FB group but it got deleted. Wanted to find people who can appreciate this, so good ol’ DIS boards to the rescue.

My husband and I were out at a local Grocery Outlet and saw this. They say premium. But they’re light ice cream and they’re a little smaller I think than the ones at the parks, but at .99 cents, they still hit the spot!

Looks the same, and basically tastes the same but it is much smaller and it doesn't have WDW in the background. There good for a fix but a few minutes later and you want another one.

Don’t have right editing tools but we can remedy the background somewhat. My husband only goes for the ice cream bars anyways. :)

Not quite a full replacement for me but he’s pretty happy. Just looked at a DL ticket to see if I could join my friend and couldn’t stomach the $169 it’d cost. I’ll go for a few Mickey bars.

I love the updated picture. Well played.

We can occasionally find boxes of these and they are a nice treat. The stores that tend to carry them are not convenient for us though so it requires a special trip to get them.

My youngest son is obsessed with fhem and would do one a day if he could. He doesn't quite understand why we can't always get them or why the are hard to find.I do try to make special trips out to find them though because the smile on his face when he finds a new box in the freezer is worth the effort it takes to buy these things

Interesting to see these sold individually, as I've only seen them in the box of 6 since Mickey's 90th Bday back in 2018.

They may not be as large and decadent as the ones sold in the parks, but they are close enough and I enjoy them. Since I haven't been to Disney since 2020, it makes me happy when I eat one.

Now the so-called "Dole Whips" that are being sold at Costco are a whooooole 'nuther thing. I could make a thread about those. :sad2:

You know, since you mentioned not seeing them sold individually, I realized the reason it felt even more like the parks was because they were sold individually. We’ve seen the boxes (I think I can find it at Target), but buying one unboxed felt special.

I’ve heard about the dole whips but have gotten them yet. Not good huh?

Oh sure, they're great if you enjoy indulging in a cup of DECEPTION and LIES.

The issue here is that Dole had the audacity to label these things as "Dole Whip" when there is hardly anything in them that is in a real DW. The Costco ones have a very short list of ingredients that are all natural. Pineapple puree. Coconut milk. Honey. Citric acid. Now...not a bad thing in of itself, but have you ever SEEN the ingredients of a REAL Dole Whip? It's a huge amount of sugar and chemicals, but that's what makes it DOLE WHIP! You can't take all of that out and try to replace it with "healthy" stuff and still expect it to taste even remotely the same. It's very icy, and when you first put it in your mouth you think "Mmm, pineapple" for about a half a second until the lack of sweetness and bland flatness of the coconut milk completely takes over. A tiny paper cup of disappointment and sadness.

I dunno, I think what happened is Dole wanted to put out something Dole Whip-esque into the retail market but didn't want the public at large to see the actual ingredients listed right there on the label ("We're DOLE! We sell FRUIT and SALAD and healthy things!" 🤣). So they concocted this all natural product but still used the Dole Whip name in order to trick people into buying it.

The “dole whips” sold in stores ($8 for 4 if I recall correctly) are horrible. First of all, they’re nothing like a dole whip and second of all imo they taste terrible. 99 cents for one of those Mickey bars is a good deal though, the boxes in the store are like $8 for 4 (maybe 6).

Well I am grateful I will not be risking a migraine for junk store whips, thanks for the reviews. To be honest, it is nice that there are some things only to be found at WDW, it makes the experience & memories more special.

Yeah, don't get the Dole Whips. Nasty business. Even if you never, ever had one at Disney and you were just eating these with no experience, you'd not find much redeeming about them.

As for the Mickey Bars found in the wild, they aren't the same either. Disney has a proprietary agreement with Nestle, I think, that only a certain recipe is sold on Disney property. The stuff you see in the wild is not even close to the same recipe--for either the ice cream or the chocolate coating. But it is edible.

If you enjoy Dole Whips, try your local frozen yogurt or ice cream place that serves soft serve. I have seen it at both types of locations and it tastes like what they serve at Disney. If you are in the Northeast and have a stew Leonard’s near you they also sell it both in a cone and a pint or quart you can take home.
