Mickey PDA in park

Do es anyone have the Mickey PDA and if so, have you used it in the parks? It says it has a fastpass alarm and an autograph tracker and just wanted to get some details of these features. Here's the link in case anyone wants to see ithttp://laughingplacestore.com/Product-3416.asp

In February I was at DL with my GF and I saw the "Personal Disney Assistant" there... had to buy it, just because I'm a geek. A pretty total waste, in my opinion... how young are your kids? They may like some of the "Scavenger Hunt" stuff where you have to find things in the parks, but the other games are rather lame, and the FastPass alarm... well... all I remember about that was how incredibly hard it was to turn OFF... it just kept going, and going, and going...

IMHO, not Disney merch at its finest, to be sure.

They are 8(will be 9 when we go), 3 and 1. All girls. It looks so cute it's hard to resist, but I don't want a "total waste". Now a partial waste I can deal with. At those ages, do you think they would like the scavenger hunt? Did you use the fastpass alarm?

The Scavenger Hunt feature was kind of neat, to be honest... it will ask you if you know how to find, for instance (as a DL example), "a whale that swallows boats"... and the Storybook Land Canal Boats start off going in to Monstro's mouth...

The FastPass alarm was a little complicated (you kind of have to push hard with the included stylus to get it to do anything) and like I said, it wouldn't just shut off, we had to find the right button to push. The instructions are pretty light.

I never got around to using the Autograph Tracker (truth be told, I gave that up years ago), so I can't comment, but if your DD's are into autographs, that may be useful... the "Trip Diary" or whathaveyou was nothing. It asked you what the day was and which park you went to, and that was about it.

They (the 9 yo and 3 yo, at least) may really enjoy the Scavenger Hunt, though. Funny thing is... I'm sure it was under $20 in Disneyland, yet Laughingplace has it for $23?

I believe LPS always marks up their stuff higher than the parks, since they are going to the trouble of going in the park and getting for you.

My DD 9 last July bought one, she had it maybe 2 days and dropped it, never worked again. Piece of junk IMO.

OMG...I knew I was technically behind with the rest of the world but I looked at the thread title and thought it was about "Public Displays of Affection" and peeked in to see who had been making out with Mickey!

I havent seen this, and it does look like something my dd8 would like, but I hate when things dont do what they are advertised to do (and I would be willing to pay a little more), and that if they are for kids, and cant handle being dropped - oy vey!

Me too. I think I will probably get it. I just won't expect much from it.
