Mickey Mouse Zippo Lighter...

Anyone have a clue about the value of these or is it really just in how much someone is willing to pay for it. I have a mint/pristine never been struck, lit, etc. 1978 Zippo Mickey Mouse lighter. I don't have the box for it which I know makes it even more valuable, but it has been wrapped in a shammy cloth since I can remember so there isn't even so much as a surface scratch on it. It has a simulated wood grain on both the front and the back, mickey mouse on it and a small silver engraving plate. Anyone collect these and/or would know what a good starting value would be on ebay? Thanks.

I am not familiar with that particular model, my collection is limited only to Disney Park items. I've seen a lot of Disney Zippo's but I have never seen that one! But that doesn't mean much. However, I do know enough about Zippo lighters to point you in the right direction.

Go through the links at this site until you find a place that might suggest a value, OR the scarcity of this model OR email a collector at one of the links. A little homework on your part will give you a better final price.

eBay is the best place for your offering, but I'd wait until late September when most vacations are finished. List the lighter under Zippo and not Disney or Mickey Mouse categories. Make sure you offer the item for worldwide shipping, and PayPal is the safe and easy route for dealing internationally.

Most likely, your buyer will not be a Disney fan, but a Zippo collector- and that's OK because they'll pay serious bucks for pristine Zippo's, even without the original box.

Without knowing anything about this exact model, I'd say you are probably looking at a minimum of $100, but don't be surprised if it's worth much more...
