Mickey/Minnie hats

I'm sure that every park has them, but can someone tell me if the Mickey/Minnie hats (The ones with the ears) are sold at the big store when you first enter MK (Emporium, I think?). Can you get names on them? How much should I budget for them? Do they come in Toddler size?

There is a little shop just off of Main Street, to the right, called Le Chapeau or something like that. That's the place to buy the traditional personalized ears hats. I didn't go in there last month, but I saw it is still there. Like I said, it's off to the right, either just at the far end of Town Square or at the next "side street." Someone I'm sure knows better than me. I think they cost something like $8.00 I may not be right, but I'm not far off. This is really testing my memory, and I'm not sure I'm passing the test.

Anyway, this response will bump up this thread and you may get someone who knows something to respond.

Yup Le Chapeau exactly across the street from the emporium--facing the train station. That is the only place you can get them personalized in the MK They have cooler embroidery other places but the price goes WAY up--I think it was $25. for a rainbow embroidery at MGM

They also have them at Sir Mickeys at MK. It is located right across from Tinkerbelles Treasures and the Carousel. I bought them there, personalized, in Jan, for $7 each. One was a youth size, one for a toddler although the toddler size was a bit big on my tiny 16 month old.

They sell them mostly anywhere but if you want the name put on the back there are only a handful of shops that do that. We got ours at Head to Toe and I want to say that was at MGM. I cannot remember for the life of me. Anyway I got one youth and one infant and they both fit fine.

There were like 7-8 $$$ for the hat and like 10.00 to get them embroidered.

At Le Chapeaux, they are right at $7.50 (after tax) and they stitch the name on the back for free. They will embroider them at Disney Days of Christmas in Downtown Disney, but they charge for it (don't know how much, we took advantage of the free stitching). Disney Days of Christmas will also personalize the ears. We had our daughter's name and the year put in one ear and Mickey balloons painted in the other ear.
I don't remember how much that was, but I think it was either $8 or $11. We just got back in the wee hours of Sunday morning, so this information is current as of last week!

Do you mean it was an additional $10 to get them personalized....or $7-8 + $2-3 for embroidery?

I was thinking of getting ours at DD the night we arrive...so we would have them the morning we enter the MK...any ideas of where to get them at DD...and do any of them have FREE personalization?

Yes it was extra to have them embroidered. I was told by several it was free but I never found anyone who did it for free. Also I couldn't have mine that day it took them 2 days to get it to my room because they were so backed up on orders.

WHAT!!! WOW...I don't beleive it...I haven't been to WDW...but wouldn't have even thought of it taking that long...what if your not going to be there two days...or what if your not staying at a WDW resort....OR..what if you don't have park hopper passes and can't come back.

Anyone else run into this? We went to Disenland...and got ears quite a few years back..and it only took 15 min...to pick, pay and have all 4 embroidered.

It is free to have them personalized at Le Chapeau on Main Street at MK IF you buy them there.

They do it while you wait and I have never had to wait long - especially going early in the day.

...or if you have the receipt from buying them somewhere else. We bought ours at DTD and asked the clerk where to get the names put on. He said for $6.50 we could have it done at Days of Christmas or for free at Le Chapeau in MK, but that we had to bring the receipt.
As I understand it, the free personalizing is quicker but not as nice as the embroidered personalizing. It was still plenty nice for us, though!
