Mickey Hot Air Balloon Today!!!

Just thought I would share..... this was taken just after 7:30AM today in the esplanade...

Anyone know what the special occasion was?

My mom is in DLR for a quick trip this week and was very excited to see the balloon! (and I am incredibly jealous!!!)

Hey DizNee Luver, just noticed you're in Medford... I'm pretty close, just down the hill in Mount Shasta! Nice to see someone who is almost a neighbor!

They were just doing some filming, I believe.

The Mickey Balloon is flown over DLR and WDW every few years, so they can update the Vacation Planning Movies.

Well, that is pretty cool if you ask me. I would be thrilled if I got to see them filming a new vacation planning film. I would hope to see myself in the background shot of it and tell everyone I was a Disney celebrity!

We are at the parks right now and were lucky enough to see the balloon up close! Mickey Mouse was riding in the balloon with a few girls!

We were wondering what was going on too! The girls in line in front of us ran over to get the scoop...they told us that one of the girls with Mickey was a grand prize winner. I guess there was a contest and the winning girl said she would love to ride in a hot air balloon with Mickey Mouse.

That would be such a cool prize! I think I remember seeing that they were giving that away for YOAMD, but I haven't heard anything else about it since. I wonder what contest it was? (any why wasn't I entering to win it? )

My guess is that she was the winner of the Mickey Mouse balloon flight prize that was offered during last year's Year Of A Million Dreams. The winner of the Epcot balloon flight had his over the Magic Kingdom at WDW about a month ago.
