How big do you print them? I know it's subjective, but I'm trying to gauge a good size, say, from ear to ear:



I was thinking 6 inches, but I wondered if that was too big... or too small?

I usually make them about 2 1/2 to 3 inches at the widest point (depending on how many of them I need to print on a page). Similar to the long-gone Home Depot paint chips.

Of course, that said, you can certainly make them whatever size you want.

I made a Monsters Inc. Mike about 2 1/2 foot high so that his eye was big enough for the door number...took a lot of magnets to make it work. Size only matters to you and how much you want to exhibit (or how many people you want to name). There are plenty of photos on DIS and the internet that show door decorations of every size, quality and quantity...your choice. Be creative and have fun with your project.

I have made them paint chip size and some I have made much larger. Totally up to you!!!

I tend to make mine to fit on 4 x 6 photo paper. I cut them out and put two or three pieces of magnetic tape on the back.

I think 6 inches is a good size. Ours range probably from around 5 to 7 inches.

Giant Monsters Inc. head? That sounds cool! And hard.

I'll tell you, last year I made a giant sun with a hole in the middle, but the problem was it was 22 inches wide... too wide for my suitcase without folding or bending it. Luckily, our dollar store had these plastic architect's tubes, so I put it in there. But yeah, it took a lot of magnets.

Never thought about resort doors.are they all magnetic too?

Okay. I think I'm going to go with 5 and a half inches - ear to ear. Hopefully it won't be too big and awkward-looking. When you look at the designs on the screen, it seems small, but then you try to put them on a door and that's another matter.

Never thought about resort doors.are they all magnetic too?

All the value resort ones are. I've used magnets on a moderate resort door too, but I'm sure any higher level resort wouldn't want you to use magnets
