Hey all! :wave2:
Just starting my Disneyland gift list, and I'm thinking of bringing back Mickey bread for my coworkers. Just have a few questions!

1. Where can I get it?
2. How much does it cost?
3. What's the best way to pack it for the plane ride home?

Thanks so much for any help, you helpful DIS'ers!!! :thumbsup2

I know you can get it at the Pacific Wharf Cafe at DCA...sometimes the fruit/snack stand near the entrance to Bountiful Valley Farm has them too. I think a loaf is $7 or $8.

Sorry, no advice on how to get it home...but it's sourdough, so it's pretty substantial - you could pack it in your luggage with soft stuff around it and I think it would be ok, if you don't want to carry it on the plane.

Thanks Scooter! I just didn't think they'd let me take it on the plane. Darn terrorists.

When you fly to DL ask when boarding the plane or going thru the checkpoint. They will tell you if you can carry it on or not. There is also a list of things you can carry on online. Just do a search and you should find it. :)

TSA only prohibits carrying liquids onto the plane. Solid food is ok and you'll be able to take the bread, but they will xray it.

I brought a loaf of the regular sourdough bread home in my carry on last time. It was a yummy snack for a 5hr flight... :rotfl:
I'm planning to take 2 loafs this time around. So I'm sure you can take it in your carry on just fine. Unless you're planning to buy a dozen or something then I think they're too big for that.

As others have said it's available at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. It's $6.99 and so good! I'd recommend eating it before too long. We bought one once and I tried to save it for my MIL. After 2 days, even being wrapped up, it was really hard.
So buy it on your last day there so it's as fresh as possible and keep it wrapped up tight. It's better warmed but doesn't have to be. Last time we went I bought one and asked for some butter at the counter and we ate it that night just like that.

Here's a pic of the one we bought last time:

We always buy a loaf of the sourdough bread (regular loaf) and have it sliced at the Pacific Wharf cafe. They also give you butter for it. It has been a great snack for us on many a plane ride and even at home (if DS doesn't eat it all).:wizard:

Thanks for all the help everybody!
I'll be sure to buy it on our last day at DL!
I'll probably wrap it in press and seal.
That usually keeps things pretty fresh.
We leave Sat night, and I'll be at work Monday morning...so, hopefully it'll work!
You guys rock! :worship:

One absolutely wonderful tip I have learned here on the boards is to bring some ziplock bags with you. :thumbsup2

They come in so handy for all the treats that you buy during the day and bring back to the room at night. Last year I brought some small and large ones and used them all by the end of the trip.

I can't beleive I have never seen that bread before. We will have to get some loaves of that next trip. I can almost smell it now...:woohoo:

The mickey bread is soooo good!
We ate it just like it is so I cannot imagine how it would taste with butter!
I had it for the first time on our last trip and I couldn't believe I had not even heard of it before!
I am definitely getting some while I am there and one for the plane trip home!
Wait, maybe I better get two as it is not going to make it home!
(Now, I'm thinking about strawberry jam!)

Just got back on Wednesday....
They also sell the bread near the entrance to DCA in the late afternoon. Bring something to wrap it in for the trip home. The bags it comes in have little holes in it and it starts to get hard quickly.
