we are staying off site. Is having the character breakfast with Mickey worth missing the opening of the park or will they offer earlier times when the parks operating hours are earlier? Hope that makes sense. We are going the week between Christmas and New Years so I know it's going to be crazy busy and was thinking this may be a way to see Mickey without a crazy line...

What do you mean by Mickey breakfast? I think you may be referring to Chef Mickey's which is at WDW. Since this is the DLR board, it wouldn't be the best place for advice on that. If you do mean a breakfast at DLR, can you tell us the official name, so that we can help you better?

Regardless of which coast you're visiting, I never recommend missing park open for breakfast. The first couple hours of the morning are the best time for getting on rides with lower crowd levels. Never is this more true than the week between Christmas & New Years.

Mickey's Surfs up at PCH Grill?...that is the only one Mickey is at and yeah, a great easy way to get a photo with Mickey.

If rope drop is important to ya, a lot of folks will go hit rope drop first then make a character meal breakfast reservation for a bit later in the morning as an option.

Actually Mickey is at Goofy's Kitchen, but I don't know for how much longer. His stay was supposed to be through September.

Is that recent? We’ve never seen Mickey at Goofy’s Kitchen. Surf’s Up at PCH is advertised as the only character meal with Mickey.

Yes. It started this summer and I just checked and they extended it through December 31st. But I forgot it's only dinner (dubbed "Dinnertime Magic") - oops, sorry! There's a new button with Goofy and Mickey on it too.

Ah ok. We did Storyteller’s instead of Goofy’s this year so I missed that!

Ha! Surf's Up is our favorite breakfast at DLR & we go there every trip. But, we go for Stitch & I still think of it as being his meal. When the OP said Mickey's breakfast, it never even occurred to me that Mickey is at PCH. I only thought of Chef Mickey's.

I feel like such a bad Disney fan. Sssshhh, don't tell Mickey I forgot about him!

We saw him there once. He was in place of Goofy who wasn't there at all. I think it was at dinner. I had the sense that it was unplanned though, like maybe Goofy was feeling under the weather that day.
