My DD just came back from a trip at WDW with her grandparents for her birthday. As a gift, she bought me one of those mickey antenna toppers. It is really nice, problem is, my car does not have an antenna. :scared1:

Does anyone have any other uses for them? I really want to display it somewhere (in the house, at work...) Any ideas would be great!!!!

Thanks!

Put it on top of your pencil. If you have more than one topper, 'plant' them in a flower pot. Use small stones or rice to hold the pencils in place. :)

I like the little flower pot idea. It will be much safer than on your car antenna anyway ... someone stole one of mine. :sad2:

Any radios in the house with antennas?

I also really like the pencil idea. You could mark YOUR pen with the antenna ball. That way everyone knows to leave Mom's Mickey pen alone!

I LOVE LOVE the antenna toppers. During my trip in 05 I got several for the different seasons and I use them religiously.

i love the pencil idea. another thought, if you have a thick needle you could poke a hole through the antenna hole and put it on a ribbon or something and dangle it from your rearview mirror.

we have a canadian one and i'm terrified someone will steal it! lol so it's in a drawer somewhere!

You can buy from somewhere, I don't remember where, a thing shaped like a cone that attaches to your dashboard, made just for that antenna-less cars. I want to say it was at one of those websites that sells Dis parks merchandise. Hope this helps.

Use a razor to cut the rear half off (be sure to leave the ears), and apply a stick on magnet to it. Use it as a refrigerator magnet.

Since I found myself with twenty )and now more) of these from various trips and various seasons, heres what I did.

I bought a bag of cheap extra long golf tees, ang got a piece of wood about a foot and a half long, then glude the golf tees to the wood. (gorilla glue!!)

the antenna topper fits perfectly on the pointy end of the tee.

I made two, one for the mantel that we switch out the seasons, and one for my home office desk!

I have seen some ones made of metal with the same effect, but it is way cheaper to do that. You could even paint the base if you wanted to.

Funny, as I was reading I thought of the golf tee, also! That made me laugh! I love my antenna toppers but someday I suppose I may have a car without one. My daughter's car has short antenna topper on the top of the back and we can't really reach it, though I will try, and it's much thicker than regular antennas. Anyway, I need to find another way to use my awesome toppers. I was thinking that maybe I could use the golf tee, put the topper on it, and then use velcro to attach to the dashboard. Use the sticky side of velcro from round piece of velcro, or use glue if not sticky enough and put onto the tee, then somehow attach the other side of the velcro to the dashboard, maybe over to the passenger side where it won't interfer with my view of the road. I'm not exactly sure it would work, but I think so and I'll have to try it! :goodvibes

oh!

if you want a dash mount, I would go with this:
http://www.antennaballstore.com/catalog/DISPLAYACCESSORIES.html

the spring on the right!!

Wow! You are awesome! That store is very cool, who knew there was a place like that! So I'm going there and getting a couple springs for the dashboard, they are just what I need! Thanks again! :worship: I guess dissers always know, even when I'm not actively looking and just happen upon something, I find something I really need! Okay, want, but still! :goodvibes

Speaking of toppers, found this very cool topper a couple weeks ago at disney:

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has had an antenna topper stolen! It has happened TWICE to me, so I always buy extra ones :lmao:

Great ideas! I might use them all!! Had to share a word of warning to those of you using them on car antennas though. We had one that had lasted two years which my kids were very attached to - when - we went through the automatic carwash without thinking to remove it! As we began being pulled through on the track the kids screamed - what about Mickey? Just as I was saying there was nothing we could do at that point and we'd have to hope for the best - off he popped! They were both crying as we pulled out and this carwash happened to have an attendant who buffed the car with a towel when you were done. He saw they were upset and I told him why and since no one was in there behind us he went to look for it. He was my kids hero of the day for finding it - unharmed! So watch out for the wash!!

My truck also has no antenna, but I wouldn't want to put a topper on it anyway, because too many people steal the darn things!

But I did come up with a simple crafty project that took about 5 minutes:

1) Punch a straightened paper clip all the way through the topper from bottom to top (any stiff wire will do)

2) Loop the bottom of the paper clip aroung something to prevent it from slipping all the way through (I added an "87" from one of my high school graduation tassles)

3) Loop the top of the paper clip like a Christmas tree ornament hanger

4) Buy a decorative chain at a craft store

5) Cut the chain to length, hang it around your rear-view mirror, and hang the topper from it (be careful not to block any of the driver's field of view)

Viola! Antenna topper on display, but safely inside the vehicle where it can't be stolen with impunity.

Wow, I guess we're very lucky. I got dh the pirate one a few years ago. The thing is so old and faded but no one has stolen it.

WOW! Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful ideas. The look on my daughters face when she gave it to me and then realized I did not have an antenna. She will be thrilled when she sees it displayed a different way! I knew the DISBoards would provide some great ideas!

donna, where did you find this? I always get new toppers when I'm visiting wdw. I'm in the world this week and I have been searching for a different one. the emporium in mk and world of disney in dtd has nothing new.

I got this topper in the store at disney studios. As you are walking out, the last one on the right, can't remember the name right now though but you probably know which one i am talking about. I only saw them maybe one other store, mousegears. I bought two in case one gets stolen, although I have had good luck that no one has ever taken mine. Also, the red balloon celebrate toppers are on sale for 1.99. the ice cream bar toppers are a little tricky getting on. You have to make sure you ease it down the stem carefully making sure you get it on the whole way, or it will easily fly off. Look good enough to eat!
