Hmmmm. . .I honestly can't remember if they went that way before or not! Thanks for the compliments on the photos--he thought he was Mr. Cool on that fire truck!
Ok, y'all! Another update coming. A week from today, I go back to work, so I will probably post a couple of updates this week, because the next 2-3 weeks will be NUTS! Thanks for reading along!!

Sadness and Stress for the Stitchs
When last we talked, we were headed to Frontierland. Why, you ask? Well, if you read my PTR you know that D had ONE plan for MK.
RIDE SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!!
In 2011 when we went, he was about ¼ - ¾ of an inch too short to ride, and he was so sad! So, he was geared up for this! He had even seen the ride while watching Stacy that morning and was determined!
I decided that wed go ahead and get that out of the way so we could dry off over the course of the rest of the morning. Hmmm. . .best plan. . .who knows?
Anyway, here we go. Were rocking our way to Splash Mountain. Im sporting my new WL hat. Were loving this.
We get to the line, and its just a 15 min wait. Looks like destiny for us!
My guys in line:

We get to the part where you wind around and can see the loading area, and D starts to get a little stressed. He still insists, though, that hes ready to go. Its hot, it smells (you know that smell that only water rides have?), and hes stressed. Im starting to get the Momma stress going on, and Brian is starting to get stressed because, well, were all stressed.
We get to the loading area (I should mention that they measured Ds heighthe was at least an inch overfive times before we got to the ride, at different points). After one last measurement, they put us on. In the front row. All of us together. Now, were not huge, but thats not a big seat either.
As soon as we sit down, D starts crying. Nice family sits down behind us. CM sends boat off in 2.2 seconds. D continues crying. Not just oh this might be a little scary crying. The sad, someone call Department of Childrens Services on my parents crying. Every room. Every drop. He cries. Not loudlyjust crying.
I finally turned around and looked at the guy behind us and said, I PROMISE he wanted to ride this! Guy appears sympathetic and also extremely thankful that his daughter isnt so sad!
By the time we got almost to the end, my nerves were SHOT. I felt SO SO SO bad that we had gotten him on that ride. I knew that he had wanted to ride it, but honestly, if I couldve swum backwards carrying him to get him off that ride, I would have.
So we go down the BIG drop. As its coming, all I can do is clutch him and say, its going to be ok. Its going to be ok. As Im doing this. . .my new hat flies off!

I am contemplating sending this out as our Christmas card with May Your Christmas Not Suck THIS Bad as the caption.
When the never-ending ride finally stops, D immediately stops crying, turns to me with all of the seriousness of Brian Williams doing the nightly news and says, I dont think I want to ride that again.
No joke, son.
We claim our picture and head out of this part. The stress was all around usBrian and I felt so bad about D. In addition to feeling like the worst Mom in America, I was soaked and had redneck Walmart hair. . .and NO hat.
Brian kept trying to give me his hat, but I knew I would get makeup on it (yes, stupid, but I was worried about that). We searched 5 different stores and kiosks looking for a hat. By the time we got to the 5th one, I was crying. Not because I couldnt find a hat, but I had that nothing is going right, I have screwed this all up craziness going on!
In the middle of all that, we did see one of Ds most favorites. To make up for bad parenting
, we stopped. For these, I did put Bris hat on, because there was NO way Walmart hair was showing itself in pics!!
This Donald was terrific! He was so super-good with D!
We finally went in to the Castle Couture store, and I ended up buying the exact same Donald Duck hat I had in the room. At that point, I didnt care, though.
All D said over and over (except during the Donald part) was I dont LIKE that ride. I DONT want to ride it again. We called my brother (who is 31) so D could tell him he rode the ride. I explained the 55-foot-drop, and my brother says, holy crap. I wouldnt ride that either. Yep, thanks, bro!
Ok, thats the Splash Mountain update! It ended up having quite an impact on our trip (more about that later). But it was a learning experience to say the least!!
After Splash Mountain and that fun, we were ready for lunch!!

Aw, Bless D's heart!
As far as being the worst mother in America, I seriously doubt it! One time when Rachel was 4, she fell from the top of the slide on our swing-set. It was a Wednesday evening, and it never bruised or was swollen. But as the week went on, I noticed that sometimes she would hold it funny. Took her to the doctor on Monday, and it was broken! That was my worst mom in America moment! 
As far as being the worst mother in America, I seriously doubt it!

Oh no!! I'm so sorry about the Splash Mountain experience. So, so sorry. Quinn rode that (and Dinosaur) last year and hated both of them so much (in fact, in Dinosaur, he was having a freakout meltdown) and we felt just terrible after each one. 
Poor little sweetheart.
And I know that feeling so well, where you're just crying because nothing is going at all the way it's supposed to, and it's vacation, and everything is supposed to be awesome.
I hope the rest of the day was better. D does look just fine in those pics--happy, even. Yay for Donald!
And I give two thumbs up to the Christmas card idea. What a riot!

OMG! Bless his little heart! My DD was psyched to ride Splash last year, and ended up HATING it. I felt terrible for her. I can't believe that he cried the whole ride, and then you lost your hat! How awful.
I was literally laughing out loud about the Walmart hair though. That was nice of Brian to lend you his.
Great update, it may have been a rough morning, but it made for a great trip report.

here's my bad mama story....Megan was 4 months old, we were living in Charleston SC and went up to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. went to a mexican rest for lunch before we drove home and I placed her on the bench, reached over to her stroller to get her bottle, looked back and she was gone....then we heard screaming, yup she decided right then and there to roll over for the first time, we don't know what happend, but she was on Jim's side of the table, rushed to the ER and luckily she was OK, but it was a LONG ride and night for me watching every breath and movement.
I love the idea of using that as your Christmas card too

I can beat you, Michelle! When my youngest DD was 5, she fell down 3 or 4 stairs and came crying to me that her arm hurt. No bump, no bruise... kissed her boo-boo and she was fine. After that, she never complained that it hurt... until one day my DH was helping her put on her coat and he took hold of her arm. Oh, how that child howled in pain! Took her to the doctor... yep, she had fractured BOTH bones in her forearm.
Oh, and how long did it take between the time she fell and the time we took her to the doc? TWO. WEEKS.
Oops.
Wow! I know it's not funny but this story put a big smile on my face. It is just so cute and your description was very well written. Poor little guy. This story is exactly what I needed to hear right now. I have been stressing about trying to make everyone happy on our trip in Sept. you just reminded me that it is an impossible expectation to have and that too many things are out of our control. I am looking forward to hearing how you handle this for the rest of the day. (Now I'm scared to take my little 3.5 year old daredevil on her first big rides.)

Dalton is adorable. I love his smile. Xander always sneaks his shoes off when we go somewhere, so I think it is funny to see a kid who wants to keep his shoes on. Glad he was able to this time. We are hoping to stay at the Poly in 2013 (assuming Crap and Xander can get time off). I had my TA price it when the rates were released and was shocked at how high the prices are. We traveled with a potty seat to WDW just after Xanders third birthday. He was always afraid he would fall in, so it would have been bad if we did not have it. I know what you mean about needing it. I love your villa at the Wilderness Lodge.
We love Bubba Gump. I cannot wait to see Harry Potter at Universal. Someday. The inside of the castle is pretty neat. I read a report once that said you had to ride to see it. Nice to know that is not the case. Your lunch at Hogsmeade does look good. Xander only drinks milk or water as well, so I know what you mean about scavenger hunts! His favorite place to eat does not sell it, but they always allow us to bring one in from the convenience store nearby. Of course, Xander has a slight milk allergy, so we usually only allow one glass a day. I love the Sandlot. We learned about Photopass+ the last day of our recent trip. Glad you knew about it sooner.
Other than the slide incident, it seems like a fun day at the pool. Glad he did not get too upset by it. Xander loves the monorail too. Nice Avengers pictures. Unless the pictures are horrible, we always buy the photos from our character meals. We are going to save a lot of money with the new Photopass+. I will feel like they are free pictures too! Poor D drinking the cream. I am glad he was brave enough to try the milk when it was replaced. He really warmed up to those characters and got a lot of pictures with that adorable smile of his. I am glad you decided to celebrate his birthday anyway.
After seeing the character stops, I cannot get over how cute his smile is. Wow. He has a great set of cheeks. Connor loved the birds on our recent DLR trip as well. They are pretty cute. I love the Welcome Home celebration you ordered for D. Those in room celebrations really are awesome. I do not think we can ever order a plain old basket again. That is an excellent shot of D in the waterfall at Splash Country. How nice of you to help your friend/cheerleader plan her wedding. She looked very beautiful on her big day. We always have the same luck with buses. That bus driver could have called dispatch. I am sorry he was not nicer. I am glad you still made it on time despite the long wait.
More excellent pictures of D with the characters at Tusker House. His smile it so cute. Have I mentioned that once or twice? You must have had a gentle safari driver, since D fell asleep. Glad her rallied with the drums. Though AK is my least favorite park, I still love it very much. I would freak out if I had to exit a coaster that stopped on the tracks! WOW. What an interesting thing to catch in your picture. It actually looks like D is petting Dug. What a cute picture!
I love the Big Bang Theory, so I know the exact look Brian was giving you. Even though she was joking, that is a tacky joke. It is nice to see normal lines back at Camp Mickey Minnie. That is what we were expecting on our last trip only to find incredibly long lines. Xander only got to see one character. The Boneyard is a lot of fun. Glad D had a good time there. It is my favorite playground there for kids. Xander would probably pick The Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground set, but he always gets so wet. I love the picture of you and D in front of the Let the Memories Begin sign too. Mom and son at play. A fun shot.
We have never done Ohana for dinner, but I love the breakfast. If we stay there next trip, we will have dinner there for sure. With yours being another glowing review of the place, I do not know what I am waiting for. Xander is not really into the games or activities either. He actually shocked us on our Disneyland trip by dancing with Minnie. That was a first. He left the dance floor at MVMCP and MBYBBQ when Woody and Goofy respectively tried to dance with him. Great pictures with Mickey and Minnie. I really love the family picture. How awesome that D got to drive the fire truck. Not many people can say that and you got awesome pictures of it to boot.
I am glad the companion restrooms did the trick for D. It is excellent when you find something that works. If it works for you, it is likely to work for someone else with the same problem. Therefore, I think it is a great thing to share. Ice cream at 10am sounds excellent while on vacation. My little brother loves Peyton Manning too, so he would have loved your shirt as well. I am sorry D did not like Splash Mountain and you lost your hat. Xander has told me he does not want to ride things again as well. His worst was by far the elevator ride (ToT) Redneck Walmart hair and no hat! If a tag Fairy was reading that, you would have had a new tag. That was funny. Glad you had a sense of humor about a sucky situation.
I am sorry you had that nothing is going right feeling. Weve all been there. I am hoping finding his favorite character after that feeling helped you feel better. Sorry you did not find a hat, but I doubt Brian minded a little makeup on his. It is kind of perfect that you ended up with another Donald hat after that. I am all caught up now and looking forward to reading the rest live.

It probably wasn't my worst parenting moment (or definitely not), but at that time, it sure felt like it! One time when D was about 6 months old, he managed to fall off the changing table while I was STANDING there beside him. Yep. That was a stellar moment too! He was ok (thank goodness), but I was terrified!

Yep, that's exactly what it was. When I saw that part in your trip report about when you felt that way, I thought, "Yep, that was exactly me!!" It's an awful feeling!! But, it did get better! The Christmas Card idea has provided lots of hilarity to us! I'm thinking some of our closest friends may indeed get that one!

Walmart hair was DEFINITELY what it was!! Sad, sad, sad!! (The morning AND the hair!
) I hate that Maddie hated the ride too. D saw pics of it the other day in the photo album and said, "REMEMBER, we are not riding that again!!" oh poor little man....so happy Donald was able to make him smile after the ride!

I can beat you, Michelle! When my youngest DD was 5, she fell down 3 or 4 stairs and came crying to me that her arm hurt. No bump, no bruise... kissed her boo-boo and she was fine. After that, she never complained that it hurt... until one day my DH was helping her put on her coat and he took hold of her arm. Oh, how that child howled in pain! Took her to the doctor... yep, she had fractured BOTH bones in her forearm.
Oh, and how long did it take between the time she fell and the time we took her to the doc? TWO. WEEKS.

Wow! I know it's not funny but this story put a big smile on my face. It is just so cute and your description was very well written. Poor little guy. This story is exactly what I needed to hear right now. I have been stressing about trying to make everyone happy on our trip in Sept. you just reminded me that it is an impossible expectation to have and that too many things are out of our control. I am looking forward to hearing how you handle this for the rest of the day. (Now I'm scared to take my little 3.5 year old daredevil on her first big rides.)
If she's a daredevil, I bet she will love it. D isn't a big daredevil, and that was why I was surprised when he wanted to ride it. I can't wait to read about your September trip--I know you all are going to have a blast!! I still stress about every trip, trying to make it "perfect". Even though I know it can't be, I want it to be!
Dalton is adorable. I love his smile. Xander always sneaks his shoes off when we go somewhere, so I think it is funny to see a kid who wants to keep his shoes on. Glad he was able to this time. We are hoping to stay at the Poly in 2013 (assuming Crap and Xander can get time off). I had my TA price it when the rates were released and was shocked at how high the prices are. We traveled with a potty seat to WDW just after Xander’s third birthday. He was always afraid he would fall in, so it would have been bad if we did not have it. I know what you mean about needing it. I love your villa at the Wilderness Lodge.
Hi!! Welcome to my TR! You know I love yours! We loved that Villa, too! It was absolutely beautiful, and it made us fall in love with the resort! I'm glad someone else understands the necessity of the potty seat!
We love Bubba Gump. I cannot wait to see Harry Potter at Universal. Someday. The inside of the castle is pretty neat. I read a report once that said you had to ride to see it. Nice to know that is not the case. Your lunch at Hogsmeade does look good. Xander only drinks milk or water as well, so I know what you mean about scavenger hunts! His favorite place to eat does not sell it, but they always allow us to bring one in from the convenience store nearby. Of course, Xander has a slight milk allergy, so we usually only allow one glass a day. I love the Sandlot. We learned about Photopass+ the last day of our recent trip. Glad you knew about it sooner.
Bubba Gump and Harry Potter were both terrific! D had no idea what any of it was, but he still thought it was enjoyable. We catch a lot of grief about D only drinking milk or water, but he really doesn't like anything else! It's definitely a pain when they don't have it when we go somewhere! I found out about PP+ just a few weeks before we left--definitely came in handy for us. Sandlot is one of my very favorites. . .we probably say "You're killin' me, Smalls" about 15 times a week. Yes, we're dorks like that.
Other than the slide incident, it seems like a fun day at the pool. Glad he did not get too upset by it. Xander loves the monorail too. Nice Avengers pictures. Unless the pictures are horrible, we always buy the photos from our character meals. We are going to save a lot of money with the new Photopass+. I will feel like they are free pictures too! Poor D drinking the cream. I am glad he was brave enough to try the milk when it was replaced. He really warmed up to those characters and got a lot of pictures with that adorable smile of his. I am glad you decided to celebrate his birthday anyway.
It was a fun day! We have sort of started a tradition of relaxing at the pool the first day--we won't do it in 2013, though, because we are only there a few days before going on the Dream. That cream stuff was nasty. . .I had to gulp my sweet tea after tasting it!
After seeing the character stops, I cannot get over how cute his smile is. Wow. He has a great set of cheeks. Connor loved the birds on our recent DLR trip as well. They are pretty cute. I love the Welcome Home celebration you ordered for D. Those in room celebrations really are awesome. I do not think we can ever order a plain old basket again. That is an excellent shot of D in the waterfall at Splash Country. How nice of you to help your friend/cheerleader plan her wedding. She looked very beautiful on her big day. We always have the same luck with buses. That bus driver could have called dispatch. I am sorry he was not nicer. I am glad you still made it on time despite the long wait.

More excellent pictures of D with the characters at Tusker House. His smile it so cute. Have I mentioned that once or twice? You must have had a gentle safari driver, since D fell asleep. Glad her rallied with the drums. Though AK is my least favorite park, I still love it very much. I would freak out if I had to exit a coaster that stopped on the tracks! WOW. What an interesting thing to catch in your picture. It actually looks like D is petting Dug. What a cute picture!
I love the Big Bang Theory, so I know the exact look Brian was giving you. Even though she was joking, that is a tacky joke. It is nice to see normal lines back at Camp Mickey Minnie. That is what we were expecting on our last trip only to find incredibly long lines. Xander only got to see one character. The Boneyard is a lot of fun. Glad D had a good time there. It is my favorite playground there for kids. Xander would probably pick The Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground set, but he always gets so wet. I love the picture of you and D in front of the Let the Memories Begin sign too. Mom and son at play. A fun shot.
Not much stands in the way of D's sleep. . .even jeeps and active bongos!
We have never done Ohana for dinner, but I love the breakfast. If we stay there next trip, we will have dinner there for sure. With yours being another glowing review of the place, I do not know what I am waiting for. Xander is not really into the games or activities either. He actually shocked us on our Disneyland trip by dancing with Minnie. That was a first. He left the dance floor at MVMCP and MBYBBQ when Woody and Goofy respectively tried to dance with him. Great pictures with Mickey and Minnie. I really love the family picture. How awesome that D got to drive the fire truck. Not many people can say that and you got awesome pictures of it to boot.
Definitely try 'Ohana!!! It's SO good! In my 2013 plans, I don't have it booked in there. I'm betting it makes it in before we make ADRs! D isn't much for the dancing or parades stuff where people might be looking at him. He is getting over his shyness, but that's still not his thing! We even had to buy a little Disney fire truck for D to bring it home of his "best memory"!
I am glad the companion restrooms did the trick for D. It is excellent when you find something that works. If it works for you, it is likely to work for someone else with the same problem. Therefore, I think it is a great thing to share. Ice cream at 10am sounds excellent while on vacation. My little brother loves Peyton Manning too, so he would have loved your shirt as well. I am sorry D did not like Splash Mountain and you lost your hat. Xander has told me he does not want to ride things again as well. His worst was by far the “elevator ride” (ToT) Redneck Walmart hair and no hat!
The companion restrooms are great! I hope someone else can use that info! It was definitely better than waiting 45 min on it to be quiet enough for him to go!
I am sorry you had that nothing is going right feeling. We’ve all been there. I am hoping finding his favorite character after that feeling helped you feel better. Sorry you did not find a hat, but I doubt Brian minded a little makeup on his. It is kind of perfect that you ended up with another Donald hat after that. I am all caught up now and looking forward to reading the rest live.

Stitchs RESTORED!!
To make up for the rest of the morning, we headed to our hands-down favorite QS for lunch. . .COLUMBIA HARBOUR HOUSE!!!
I had the fish and chicken basket (I had to feed my stress!!), D had chicken and fries (poor guy!), and Brian had the lobster roll.
It was so good! There was so much of it, though, that he had to eat some of it out with a fork first! I may try it next time. . .though it will be hard to give up my fish & chicken combo!
After that, we walked around and went back to ride Winnie-the-Pooh. D was now convinced that EVERY ride was dark, scary, and going to drop him 55 feet. So, he was not really happy about riding this ride. After the first room, though, he decided it was ok.
We did see a lady throwing a fit outside of Winnie-the-Pooh. She had received the surprise fastpasses for Philharmagic when she got her WTP ones. However, she evidently thought she got TWO sets of WTP ones and planned to use it there. The CM told her she couldnt, and she went a little nuts. Poor girl was trying to explain it to her, and the lady kept saying, You should TELL people its for Philharmagic. I so wanted to say, ummmmm. . .its printed on it??, but I was getting the Sheldon Cooper shush face again! We were the family behind them, so I was glad when she moved out of the line and we were able to get in.
After our visit to the Hundred Acre Wood, we were done-in. I guess it had just been an emotional day and everyone was tired. So, we decided to head back to VWL (it was about 1 pm), rest & regroup, and head out that night.
Of course, there had to be a few more Partners and Castle pics. I love these pics of Dyou cant tell the day rattled him!
We walked through the Emporium on the way out, and Im pretty sure we added a new Disney racer to our collection at that point.
Then it was back to Wilderness Lodge and off to dreamland for a while!

That lady in the WTP FP line has no excuse for that outburst. She should know how to read. I am glad she finally got out of your way. Great shots of D in front of the castle. It seems like he was already over Splash Mountain.
By the way, Crap tricked Xander into riding ToT. He called it the elevator ride. Xander was excited to ride it, because he loves elevators. After he rode it, he said, I like elevators but not elevator rides. I am very proud of the fact that he is mostly brave about trying new rides. As soon as we are done, he says he does not want to ride again though. I wish Xander liked something other than milk or water too, especially since he is allergic to milk. Weve even tried the non-milks, but he can always tell the difference. Connor does not like cows milk so far. He is iffy on Pediasure while Xander absolutely hates it.

I also think CHH is the best counter service in the MK. I finally managed to get my greedy little hands on the lobster roll this past trip and it was really good! I too had to eat it with a fork first because it was so overstuffed.
It's funny how many people just don't look at things or read them or whatever, and then completely freak out over things. We also got those free Philharmagic FPs and it could not have been more clear with the Pooh FP machine spit them out that they were a BONUS and NOT for Winnie the Pooh. People kind of amaze me.

Glad you liked Dumbo! Did you ever go back to try it at night? There's all these lights in the water, it's SO beautiful. I would definitely recommend it next time, even just to walk back there and take a look!
Poor D - I hope he won't be scared of Splash whenever you next make it back to Disney. My brother rode ToT when he just hit the height requirement and was so upset with the ride he didn't make it back on till he was 10. At least it didn't ruin your whole day.

Two weeks? Oh my goodness! Didn't you feel terrible? I know I did. I remember the tech who took the x-ray was putting it up on the screen for the doctor, and I asked, "Is it broken?" She just looked at me and made this face, and I just knew! I felt horrible!
