Hi guys.

My DS is a huge University of Michigan football fan. He has been his whole life even though we live in a state that usually is not about Michigan football. LOL.

He has always wanted to go to a game. Well... he recently got a real job and wants to buy tickets and go to a game and stay for the weekend.

I am looking for suggestions on places to stay, things to do and maybe even the best place to buy the tickets. I realize the tickets are very hard to come by, but he is going to keep trying.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest a place like Stubhub.com for tickets.

I'd imagine as bad as they should be this year, that tickets wont be too hard to get.

This is true.

It is a picture of a once-storied program literally falling apart - a losing season, embarrasment to teams such as Appalachian State, and an embattled coach now accused of over-practicing his players and violating NCAA rules.

It's called True Blue fan... Literally. He bleeds blue and maize I believe. He will follow the Wolverines no matter what.

Controversies and poor playing aside, I would be shocked if he could easily score tickets. True Blue fans don't turn their back very quickly and those of us that have grown up in MI are use to supporting losing teams. :lmao:

Ann Arbor is a great place to visit. There will be plenty of places to eat and hang out on a football weekend.

Go Blue!

You will have best chance at a non-big ten game. I would go the scalp tickets route, but it isnt for everyone. Stubhub is your safest route & a quick glance plenty of them as low as $16 a piece.

Being a Buckeye fan I would try to convince your Son to stay away from the Dark Side ;-)

Everyone's always gotta play the Appalachian State card, don't they? haha.

Tickets are hard to come by, I know they are already sold out for many games this year. And no, us Michigan fans do not suddenly change sides because our team occasionally sucks. We'll turn around, someday, you'll see. muahaha.

Anyway...stubhub seems like a good place to go about getting some tickets. Just don't plan on it being the Ohio State game, that just won't happen. Good luck!

Funny you should say that. It really is hard to wear blue and maize around in this here state isn't it. Those OH state fans sure have a bunch to say to him, but he holds steady. Still loves those Wolverines!

 Not even going to comment on that...

To the OP, hope your son gets tickets. Go Blue!

OP - how many tickets were you looking for? I know someone who still gets season tickets (pairs) and doesn't go to the games anymore.

Funny how the same season Michigan lost to App State, they played in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando against the mighty Florida Gators and Superman Tim Tebow. Because we happened to be visiting WDW, we went to the game with tickets in the Michigan section where we were surrounded by 70,000 fans chanting "Gator Bait" and clamping their arms like Gator jaws. All of those people went home pretty surprised and disappointed when the Wolverines dumped the Gators 41-35.

The team is in the middle of the transition to the new coach and system, and will be back competing for Big Ten titles in the next two or three years. The article in the Detroit paper that is causing the controversy was written by a writer who has proven to be on a crusade against Rodriguez, and was such a complete joke that it didn't even try to discuss what the NCAA rules really are, including the distinction between mandatory and voluntary activities and activities that take place when classes are in session and when they aren't. The writer also didn't bother to point out that ALL major programs have a lot of activities that are "voluntary" per the NCAA rules, but the desire of the players to succeed, and the peer pressure from the other players, means that almost everyone will participate. Michigan has a very strong compliance department and I would be very surprised if they would let violations like this take place. But, in the meantime, it is providing a lot of fodder for the Michigan haters.

On the original question about getting tickets, except for the most attractive opponents (Notre Dame, Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State) tickets are pretty easy to come by at a reasonable price, either through Stub Hub or e-Bay or on the street on the day of the game.
