DS2, 5, Captain Hook

Breakfast at 8am. We go to check the weather forecast in the lobby and DS2 spots Winnie the Pooh at the photo spot, so he gets in the queue. By the time he gets to the front, Eeyore had replaced Pooh, so DS2 has photo with Eeyore instead. :)

Walt Disney Studios today. It is bright and sunny, lots of people heading into both parks. We arrive in Front Lot about 9.45 and admire the surroundings until the doors are opened at 10am. We head for Art of Disney Animation but they are having technical difficulties, so we walk round to Armageddon instead. Once inside we are all a little apprehensive about what's going to happen. The boys find the pre-show a bit confusing as they can't read the captions. Once we are on our space station, we all enjoy the special effects. :cloud9: We head back outside and decide it could have been wilder! It is starting to warm up! :sunny:

We catch the last cars of the Good Morning Studios parade and then go in for the 10.45 showing of Cinemagique. Everyone enjoys this and is surprised by the effects. DH is particularly impressed. We grab a snack of coffee, juice, brownies and cookies in Studio 1 as we are planning a late lunch. As we come out, Lilo and Stitch's Catch the Wave Party is just starting so we watch this fun little show, which includes Minnie, Goofy, Pluto (DS2's favourite) as well at Lilo and Stitch. This is a bonus as it wasn't due to be on until the following day.

At 12 we rush off to the Backlot to get in the queue for the Moteurs...Action Show. Lots of spectacular cars and motorbike stunts, which the boys particularly enjoy. The show was from 12.35 until 1.10pm. It takes a while to get out of the stadium and we get separated but soon find each other. We walk back towards the central area and get a prime spot to watch the parade, which starts at 1.30. The boys like all the Toy Story characters, and we bask in the warm sunshine. :cool1:

We look for somewhere to have lunch, but many places seem to be shut, so we head back into Studio 1 for burgers and fries from the Restaurant En Coulisse, which are edible but that's about it. DH goes into the Disneyland Park to see if he can get any Fastpasses for Buzz or big Thunder Mountain for later. Unfortunately they are all gone. :sad2:

We walk into the 2.30 showing of Animagique, 2 mins before the doors close. This is a lovely show, with Mickey and Donald. It is one of the few attractions in the Studios really suited to younger children. We all enjoy it, particularly the fish and bubbles. :thumbsup2

We then visit the Art of Disney Animation. We found that we couldn't hear the English commentary on the headphones as the French was too loud. This was despite the fact that there were only 2 French people there! The boys enjoyed the drawing activities here and I admired the artwork on the walls. I went to get a cup of tea while the boys finished their pictures.

The boys then spotted the Flying Carpets so they went on twice with DH. The Studios seems very quiet, no queues for anything, but we feel we have done everything we wanted. Studios Tram Tour is closed so we will return tomorrow to try this. We feel that a few more rides are needed at the Studios, but we can see that some are being built!

We leave the Studios around 4pm and head for the Disneyland Park. We have a ride on It's A Small World and then head back to the hotel. Serious queues at most rides. We treat ourselves to a very tasty ice cream from Fantasy Gelati. :sunny:

Dinner at Inventions Restaurant tonight. DS2 dresses up in his Captain Hook costume and DS1 is a cowboy (I persuade him that cowboys wear shirts!). We arrive at the Disneyland hotel at about 6.40pm and take the lift to the second floor. We have a drink in the plush surroundings of the Fantasia Bar, kir for me, cider for DH, choc milkshake for DS2 and a blue kids cocktail for DS1. Total about E24! :lmao:

We then go into the restaurant and are shown to our table. The characters are already in evidence and they greet us as we sit down. Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Eeyore and some mice(?) DS2 is thrilled to meet Pluto and gets his autograph as well as lots of photos. The characters come round several more times during the evening. :goodvibes There is a fabulous spread of food to choose from, including some massive prawns, lots of fish, parma ham, asparagus...Main courses included seafood pasta, roast lamb, beef, pork, paella etc. There was also a huge array of desserts. With a bottle of wine and water, the bill came to E160. A very expensive meal but an enjoyable experience. :cloud9:

We walk slowly back to the Sequoia Lodge and sit in the lobby with cups of tea and hot chocolate, enjoying the atmosphere. The concierge desk is just closing, the CMs are cashing up, but when a family arrive and ask for help finding some food, they still help and arrange a table for them at Cafe Mickeys. I thought that was really nice. :wizard:

We get to bed at 10.40pm. Early start tomorrow, our last day.

We were at the studios the same day! and also went on the carpets twice (after each other as no queues)
