I spend the day packing the last bits and stressing over details. DH is at a conference near Warwick, he finally rings to say he is setting off at 4.30pm. Hurrah! He then rings back to say his battery is flat, cue stream of expletives from me! Someone gives him a jump start and he is soon on the road, thankfully. We have a quick tea of jacket potatoes and baked beans, and DH arrives home at 6pm. He packs the car and sets up the DVD player in the back for the boys. We finally set off for Gatwick at 6.45pm
We arrive at the Gatwick Hilton at 9.20pm, never a fun journey but no major incidents. We get a family room with bunk beds, the boys are very pleased. DH takes the car round to the Summer Special car park while I get the boys ready for bed. They are just dozing off when he arrives back and they start demanding stories... Eventually we all settle down for the night at around 10.30pm.
