Michelle Duggar pregnant with #19!!!

Her hair is differant and tonight I was watching and noticed she was wearing a big beaded necklace and I don't remember ever seeing her wear something like that before.

I am wondering if this might be a weird sort of "competition" with her DIL, the prettier hairstyle seems to have popped up since they announced they were going to have a baby.

And I am thinking Josh and Anna are only going to have a few kids, certainly A LOT less then Michelle. There was something on one of the shows when someone asked about how many kids they were going to have and one of them said the "as many as God gives us" and the other one said 2 to 3!

As for the Dr. thing I did read an article somewhere, and it has been a long time ago so I can't remember exactly where, saying that her previous Dr told her she needed to stop and she found this current one. None of us know the personal beliefs of this Dr and that she may be of a like mind when it comes to having kids.

I remember this too. It was the Dr. that she had before the current Dr. she uses. Her current Dr. has delivered her last few babies and will also deliver their grandchild.

Does anyone know.....do they have a contract with the Today show that they must announce each pregnancy on the air with them first???

I saw the "big announcement" on the Today show this morning. Pretty much figured it out after the teaser before commercial! This child will be younger than their first grandchild. But, they said that's how it was in her, the Mom's, family too. The son who got married didn't even kiss before marraige, and as soon as they were married they were expecting! They for sure .... I'm gonna stop.

I'd much rather my girls get it into their heads to live like the Duggars with values, love of each other & love of God then to want to live like Brittany Spears & all the other tramps out there!

oh...that's right, there's nothing in between those two lifestyles...

I wouldn't want my daughter to live either lifestyle.

I thought the same thing when I read that post....jeez, where is he/she living? I had the pleasure of accompanying 70+ band kids to Disneyland. Every one of them were kind, polite, well groomed and intelligent young people. And I don't know that any of them came from families with 19 kids!

OT here... does anyone know the dates they went to Washington? My dd15 was in Washington DC this summer for a national 4-H trip and I just watched a bit of the show I tivoed and as they walked by the Jefferson memorial in the background were a bunch of people in green shirts. My daughter went with 4-H and they all had their green shirts on when they were at the Jefferson memorial!!

They were in Amish Country, Ohio on June 1st (I actually spent the whole day with them riding around on their bus), then left for DC the following day, so I'd guess they were there maybe the 2nd - 4th of June? I've also known Michelle was pregnant again for a few weeks and it's been killing me not to spill the beans. IMHO it's time to say enough, if only for health reasons. I'd rather see them with a large family they can support, than someone with one child who is on welfare or abusive. For the record, they are not any different on camera than they are off. Yeah, they have a lot of kids and they can be odd, but I've never met more respectful kids ever. I joked with my husband about sending our kids to their house for some training, "Duggar Boot Camp", lol. Johanna is my favorite, she was an absolute riot!

So you'd like your daughter to live a life where she's totally controlled by her husband, and no more than a prize cow popping out babies? Sorry, that's really how I see it. I could not stand being in a marriage where my husband makes all the decisions, not to mention always wearing skirts. I think I wear a skirt maybe 1 time a month..

I've never ONCE seen him tell her what to do - but I'd be happy to rewatch the episode if you can tell me which one. He's not abusive in any form so I don't see that as being controlled.

I'm thinking she could choice to keep her legs shut if she really wanted to...

As far as a skirt - I actually like to wear skirts - as does one of my dd - she begs to wear them...of course horseback riding I wouldn't choose to wear one - but there's not a darn thing wrong with it!

My kids have to wear the same thing every day to school -it's called a uniform & they don't complain about it 'cause its the way they are brought up - no big deal

On the skirt thing, I totally agree. It's not a religious thing but I prefer to wear skirts as a comfort thing. On the other hand, my half-siblings do belong to a religion that does not allow the women to wear pants. It's their right to choose to do what their religion believes in and for the Duggars, that is to "be fruitful and multiply."

The belief of those practicing the religion the Duggar's do is that the wife operates primarily as homemaker/homeschooler under the authority of the husband. They also believe that the daughters in the family not go to college so they can get married and be fruitful and multiply, living a life just like their mother's, under the authority of the husband. Just because we don't see JB telling Michelle what to do on an edited reality show, does not mean that their family does not operate under that belief.

Nothing gets people more fired up than threads about the Duggars.

I think she should have quit with the last one so that she can focus on the children she already has, but I've really grown to love this family. I love how their principles and morals remain, no matter how much fame they've gotten (as I compare them with the Gosslins). Now that I have a son, I especially appreciate their ultra-conservative values. There are a few things I don't agree with (naming all of them with "J", women wearing only skirts/dresses, the no-dancing rule, etc), but I still applaud them.

It's against their beliefs to use any type of family planning. So "stopping at 18" is not possible, unless they practice abstinence. But then isn't that family planning as well?

I've been googling Quiverfull all day and it is a very interesting movement.

Where do you get the information that the Duggars don't believe that the daughters can go to college? From what I've seen in the show, the Duggars seem to encourage learning in both their sons and daughters.

Also, I'm sure that TLC would show any footage of Jim Bob ordering Michelle around in a heartbeat. I really think they both love and respect each other, so I think the reason we don't see it is that they don't order each other around.

I don't personally agree with every belief the Duggars have (i.e. the need to wear skirts vs. pants, the quiverfull concept), but they seem to practice Christianity, albeit a very conservative style of Christianity.

I certainly understand why people have big families many years ago. When my mom and her 22 siblings were born, my grandfather wanted the boys so they could work his fields at no cost to him. Unfortunately my mom's mother left the entire family when her youngest was a baby, because she just couldn't do it anymore.

I do hope this baby is healthy and that Michelle also comes theough yet another pregnancy with no problems.

I do like this family and feel the children are happy (from what TLC lets us see), but I also feel sorry for the older children, being saddled with such responsibility (again, thinking back to my many aunts and uncles with the same responsibilites). Somewhere in my mind, I have a problem reconciling this family having this show on TV. I don't understand, looking at their beliefs, why they would put themselves out there. It's said they don't need the money (I don't know that for a fact...that may have changed with so many more mouths to feed), so are they on TV to show what a normal family is like (is this normal?) or is it for the attention. I just can't grasp why they are on TV if they don't need the money. And why do some think they aren't doing it for the money? Most very religious people shy away from attention.

(This is not a slam against DMRick - I'm just extending comments based on the last section of your comments...I actually enjoy your posts).

We do not know what they are using their earnings for...my opinion is that they are probably using it in a way that is in step with their beliefs - perhaps charity, church building, missions...who knows.

They are very eager to share their faith and TLC doesn't seem to filter it. They perhaps feel called to do this. Some faiths call it evangelizing. And as Christians, we are all called to show and model Christ's love to others. They are showing the viewing public (and every one they come in contact with as well) that they are a loving family willing to share and help and they do not shy away from talking about their faith. As a Christian, I can honestly say I don't have that kind of courage yet.

Every episode I've seen shows a very balanced family in terms of support of one another, level of happiness and joy, low level of stress and friction...generally what any family yearns for.

Not my choice in lifestyle, but it seems to be working well for them.

Now imagine if everybody utilized the "right" to have as many kids as their uterus can manage, how long would it be before the earth became degraded beyond use? The sad thing is that the Duggars would love for their kids to believe in their screwy religion and have that many babies. It's pathetic.

We may have a legal right, but we do not have a moral or spiritual right. The earth is already stretched more than Duggar's uterus, we don't need people going around having a couple dozen children just because they can. No good comes of it, none at all. The kids have to raise their siblings. It's not a family, it's an institution. What is the point?????

Do ya know a lot of people who are striving for dozens of kids, but just feel compelled to stop at 1 or 2 because of the impact to the earth. Really???

Seriously, the world is not in danger of Americans having 20 kids per family.
