I completely agree.

He's served his time and he hasn't been banned from the game. A team felt that he would help their team win, so they hired him. If he works out, they'll keep him around.

If people decide to no longer be fans of the team, that's their option. I don't understand taking that position, but whatever.

You must be the mayor of Crazy Town!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1: I feel sorry for you and people like you who obviously have a warped sense of justice. I will pray for you.

Wow. I'm the one with the twisted sense of justice???

The man was found guilty, went to jail and did his time. You might not be happy that he is getting back into the game, but justice was served.

BTW, please do not pray for me. From your post, it appears that you need it more than I.

Phila is, after all, the City of Brotherly Love.

GO REDSKINS!

Ok, so I'm a Giant's fan, enough said about my love for the Eagles :flower3:
BUT I actually feel bad for Eagles fans right now, it's just not right, IMHO...

I'm not a sports fan, so who plays for who doesn't really matter to me, normally.

What ever happened to the idea that sports figures were supposed to be role models? I guess that is old fashioned and it is all about money, but these teams represent a city. As a city, I'd be really upset to have players who have proved to be poor role models representing my city. I realize that the cities are not the owners, but you'd think they'd have some influence. More and more, I hear stories about the poor choices many professional sports players make. For the amount of money they make, you'd think they'd have it made and could actually contribute something worthwhile to their communities. Instead, they are an embarrassment. I don't want this to be a blanket statement about all professional sports players. There are many good ones. It is just such a shame that the few drag down the image of the others.

Well I am not happy about it at all, but I will always be an Eagles fan no matter what. My daughter at 18 months could sing the Eagles Fight song so I will always bleed green. The decision is stupid but Im sure his first day on the field we will all let him know it. Especially when they play "Who let the dogs out" when he comes on. Those of you who wont be rooting for them or getting rid of your stuff~~please let me know if you have tickets you would like to get rid of I will be happy to take them off your hands. :cheer2:
Best statement I saw posted by my step-daughter....Hide your Beagles Vicks an Eagle!!

I don't think he deserves to play either. He may have done his time but so many kids look up to pro players and consider them role models. Vick is nowhere near a role model. Because the NFL reinstated him, they are saying it is ok to commit a felony. Don't worry about the felony, as long as you serve your time you can have your job back. So what happens to the next player who commits a felony? Vick got his job back so now they will have to do the same to the next one. I think this is the begining of a viscious cycle.

My mil is an Eagles fan. As soon as I heard I called her and she said she is now going to have to pick a new team. She won't root for any team with Vick on it.

Everybody deserves a second chance. Have a couple beers and a hot dog, everything'll be ok.

Did his victims get a second chance? Did they even have a first chance?

Yeah, I'm sure the dogs are enjoying their second chance.

EXACTLY. ::yes::

**flame suit on **

Michael Vick was convicted of a crime, has certainly been remorseful and served his legal punishment.

Do you all think the punishment he has received by the court system, and outside of it, considering he has lost EVERYTHING, both possessions and his reputation was not just?

His career is football, and he deserves to play.

I'm sure plenty of people would agree that the legal system is not always just.

Remorseful? Until I hear him in tears on the verge of a breakdown wailing how the thoughts and images of the horrible things he did haunt his every waking hour, I won't believe it. Any fool celebrity can go on tv and say "I'm sorry (I got caught)."

He lost everything? No. When Hurricane Katrina flooded our home and community with over 20 feet of water, we lost everything (jobs, homes, possessions). When Vick CHOSE to do what he did, he willingly threw away the few things he no longer has.

I have to believe that anyone who thinks "he did his time" "give him a second chance" must have never been in the presence of an abused animal. It takes an incredible kind of person to torture an animal. :sad1:

And if you really just don't give a flip about animals, keep in mind that this is the same "professional" that flipped off his own fans in Atlanta.

Pray? To whom and for what? What does "prayer" have to do with any of this? Warped sense of justice? The man has served the time that our justice system imposed and has been released. He has a right to try and get a job just like anyone else. The Eagles apparently feel he has the talent for this particular job, and they hired him.

Cheers.

Vick is like the dog poop you can't get off the bottom of your sneakers.

Just feel bad for all of us die hard fans who were once again completely disregarded by the Eagles management team :sad2:

Eagles fans who leave their team over the signing of Vick make me sick. You aren't true fans. The man paid his dues to society and is just looking at a second chance. We all make mistakes in life and I feel that if the court system could forgive him, then I could. The Philadelphia Eagles are a BUSINESS. They signed Vick with the intention of him helping them bring home a Super Bowl Championship. If Vick runs the Wildcat and scores 2 TDs in the Super Bowl to win it, will you guys not cheer? Many athletes, including some you may root for have drug problems, beat their wives/kids, and do other horrible things you may not like. You are hating Vick because his crimes were public, and unlike many others, he paid for them, dearly.

I hope that when Vick's contract is up, he comes to my team in Oakland, and leads them to the playoffs again.

And I won't complain if he shows up to his first game in a fur coat.

I hope everyone is as angry when Donte Stallworth gets back in the league next year. He killed a man because he was driving drunk and had marijuana in his system.

But I have a feelin the uproar won't be as big.

Did you even read what happened? The police, eye witnesses and everyone stated that it wouldn't have mattered who was behind the wheel, the man would have died. If Stallworth was not under the influence, he still would have killed the man. The man ran across the street right in front of Stallworth; sensory delay or not, he would have been hit. The court system decided his fate and they are the experts not us. They had all the information, not us. Everyone accepted the ruling who was involved.

We all make mistakes in life

This was hardly a "mistake". This was deliberate, intentional torture and abuse. My son and I saw a clip of the 60 Minutes interview and we saw NO remorse on his face. DS kept pointing out the smirk he seemed to have. Yeah, he's sorry - sorry he got caught and convicted.

Are we going to do Vick adnauseum again? Michael Vick is back where he belongs, with a bunch of big, dumb men trying to hurt each other for money. Play ball!

I have a 14yo son who will watch all the football he can squeeze in this season. Does he 'look up'to Michael Vick? No way, he knows exactly what Vick is. Matter of fact, my son doesn't put any athlete on a pedestal unless they earn it. He knows Michael Jordan is a gambling junkie, he knows about the baseball steroid guys. What he also knows is that when these people are on top of their game they are pretty cool to watch. He hopes he gets a chance to see Michael Vick at his best once again because he was good at football, really good. Put us in the 'he paid for his crime and he's got the right to be employed so why not see him do what he does really well?' Maybe we'll travel to Philly this year, tickets could be cheap. :)

I wasn't going to compare Vick to Donte Stallworth because of attitudes like this about the crime he committed - simply, if he had not been driving, as he shouldn't have been, since he was DRUNK, he wouldn't have been there and the man wouldn't have died.

The difference between Stallworth and Vick's victims is that Stallworth could pay enough $$ to his victim's family that they didn't complain about the plea deal planned. I am sure Vick would have done that too, if he had that option.

Yes, I watched on tv what happened. So because the man was basically asking to get killed when he ran out in front of the car, we should just forget that Stallworth was driving drunk? I don't have a problem with him coming back to play, nor do I have a problem with Vick getting another chance.

There are lots of players in the NFL with a criminal record. Leonard Little drove drunk and killed someone. Served his time, got back in the league and then was arrested for driving drunk again...at least he didn't kill someone this time. I would be interested in seeing what the percentage of players with a criminal record is and what their actual crimes are...I'm sure we would be surprised.

Michael Vick is getting a chance...if the Eagles aren't happy with him or the backlash, they can cut him loose after a year. For those hoping he will fall flat on his face, maybe he will have a setback and start doing those absolutely horrible things again and everyone can say I told you so. For those glad he has a second chance, maybe he can redeem himself.
