Michael Phelps vs. Hannah Montana: The Showdown of Disappointment

One is sponsored by like, everyone else.
One makes music/tours/has a TV show.
One has been in the Olympics.
They've both been in the media for their wrongdoings.
Michael Phelps has been rejected by Kellogs.
Hannah Montana has been cruelly bashed by the media.

Who do you think is a bigger disappointment?
Do you think they got what they deserved?

But Miley also had that picture of her pretending to be asian...
Isn't Michael Phelps like.. 20 something?
I'm not suprised that he smokes pot, a lot of people his age do, so yeah... it doesn't seem like that big a deal.
And Miley's just a ho.

They're pretty much both being perfectly normal for their age.

They've been so 'brought up' by the media that when they actually do something relatively normal it's like 'OH NOES THE WORLD IS ENDING'.

What it all comes down to, in my mind anyway, is "Why are these people role models?". An actress and an Olympian, which many of us "normal" people have a slim chance of becoming.

Why do we idolize actresses and athletes? Yeah, some do some fantastic things, but many don't.


Personally, I think Hannah Montana is the bigger letdown. Michael Phelps has been training his entire childhood to be an Olympian. He had no childhood. Now that he has freedom, he doesn't know what to do - it results in him doing crazy things. Smoking pot isn't what I'd call scandalous eitheir. How many of us "normal" people do it? A LOT! If alcohol can be legalized, why can't Mary Jane?

I don't think either of them is a bigger letdown. Miley has baby scandals and does stupid thing like text her 20 something underwear model in church and giggle so loud the guy (yeah I know nothing about church) talking is mad at them. That's something stupid a teen would do lol.

Michael smoked pot at a party, lots of people do. Someone took a picture and released it. I guess he should have made sure no one was taking pictures.

I really don't care if you smoke pot behind closed doors and don't decide drive after smoking it. If you're out on the street and a public figure that many people might look up to, I'm sorry but I think you're an idiot.

People are making a huge deal out of this. What about Michael's 2004 DUI? I'd be more upset about that than smoking pot at a party.

People need to get over the Miley pictures. A ton of teenage girls take the exact same type of pictures that she does. Everyone comments on the picture "LOL that's hilarious." The only difference is Miley is a very rich and very famous teenage girl. People can't stand that so they find something to complain about.

Well, if it's going to be allowed to be smoked on the street like a cigarette I am not for it. I hate cigarettes enough the way it is, even though they can't be smoked in public places anymore.

I know plenty of 20 something year olds who's never smoked pot, and very many teenagers who don't raise their shirts for attention. I don't see why people think actresses and singers are "hero's" anyway. I would never say Hannah Montana is my hero. I honestly am beginning not to like her. I don't think she can act & her singing isn't to well either. And as for Justin Gaston he grew up five minutes from my home. I honestly don't think they're dating.. I think he's doing it for publicity. But we're not talking about all that. About MP, I like him. He's a great swimmer. I'm not disappointed in him or anything, cause I don't know him. He made a mistake, he apologized. The country needs to get over it, even though I don't see that happening any time soon.

Nobody said being a 'ho' was normal. We said taking stupid pictures and being loud and annoying is normal for a teenager.

As for smoking pot, it's pretty normal. Especially for college aged students. I don't know why, it just is.
