Michael passed his PE test!

Another Michael, my 11 year old Atkins son and partner, update!

Yesterday was the end of the year lap test in Physical Education. They have a new field and the laps are different than last year and at the beginning of the year his timing was 10 mins to finish.

Yesterday it took him 2 minutes and 30 seconds!!!

His coach was beside himself, giving him high fives and kudos. The best part is he told him that he has inspired the rest of the guys to do better! I have never seen him so proud!

He told me it's easier to run when you're not carrying so much weight! I couldn't agree more.

Also last week his team came in second in the Relay race. A year ago he wouldn't have even tried out for it.

WOW!! thats amazing - your DS cut his time by 7 1/2 minutes!! I think I'd cry if it were my son - Heck I might cry anyways! Hope you and your son continue to do well!!!

WooooHOOO, he will LOVE getting his own WAVE, Sue!!

Actually, two months into his "way of eating" (don't EVER say "diet" to him! ) he cut his time in half. Even he was surprised to see it came down so much. His energy has quadrupled since losing this weight and it's a pleasure to see on a daily basis!

He went from a kid who spent most of his time watching TV to a kid I have to demand to be in the house by sundown!

And the best part (for him)? The two girls in the neighborhood who couldn't stand him and he had big crushes on are now his "best friends".... I want to believe it's primarily because he feels better about himself but the world can be shallow, can't it????

This is awesome news! Michael is to be congratulated - I'm so glad he not only changed his way of eating, he changed his fitness level too. That's the most important because it means long-term success.

WOW! That is two cool. Even though I've been out of high school for eight years now I still remember the lap test. I wasn't a runner at the time and it was hard even though I was pretty fit, so I can tell Michael has been having a good time being outside (and here in Georgia it's been GREAT weather for being out)! I am so impressed and I know you must be so proud of Michael I know that I am proud! I love to hear all about his accomplishments :thewave: Thanks for keeping us up to date and I am sure that although it is a fairly shallow world that we live in that at least a part of the two girls being Michael's friends has to be that they really like him for who he is! I bet he's on and he certainly should be!

You guys are too kind...

I was never an "athlete" so I couldn't give my son the incentive. He told me it makes him feels invincible to run that fast. What a good feeling that must be.

I told him what an inspiration everyone here thinks he is. He's actually an inspiration for so many people who never thought it could be done. The fact that he manages to stick to it is an inspiration for me! I know how hard it is to be a kid who can't eat everything everyone else is eating....
