I've only given scant notice to whatever reports of intimidation at the polls are out there. Being a realist, I have an answer in case I'm challanged:
"Hey, I'm a Republican - I want to vote."
Then I'll go into the voting booth and do what I planned to do all along - elect John Kerry. My feeling is that if people didn't want me to vote because they thought I was a Democrat or a Liberal, then I don't feel one bit guilty about lying to them in order to do what is my right, priviledge and duty as a citizen to do.
Should I have to lie in order to vote? No, of course not. But I'm a realist and know that there might be circumstances where I have to lie in order to vote. Sad but true.
Maybe after 8-16 years (or more) of having a Democrat in office will change this situation. One can only hope.
