Michael Jackson's parents...

I don't know how old the dad is, but I heard today the mom is 79.

That sounds about right, the father said they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month.

IMHO, too dang old to be raising 3 kids ranging in age from 6 or 7 to 12. What a mess. Poor kids. :sad2:

If I remember correctly, Michael Jackson previously complained about the way his father treated him when he was younger. This isn't a concern?

I really don't know who should raise the children, but at 80 and 79, these children are doomed to lose their "parent" figure again if Michael's parents raise them.

Yup...Michael said his father beat him. And yes.. I agree his parents are too old to be guardians for such young children.

Well, I'm sure it is a temp thing. Temp being until the parents die. The kids have a steady nanny parent figure from what I understand. She will be the steady one in their lives. I see the guardianship of his parents as just a bridge between them and whoever will care for them in the coming years. They have to fight to keep the kids in the family instead of the birth mom.

Still, you have to wonder how it will go. :confused3 Look how messed up Michael was emotionally. That blame is largley on his his father in my book. The mother seems ok.

If the nanny stays in their lives! The guardians could fire her..she could quit. And how OK is a mom that allows her husband to beat her kids??

I am sorry, but Joe Jackson should never be allowed around any children

Considering the way MJ turned out---I can only imagine the horrors he must have indured at the hands of what I consider a monster

No way, no how would I EVER let a child be raised by him

I agree. I just hope that the primary nanny hangs in there, until the will comes out. I hope Michael didi the right thing for these kids.

A couple of places on the internet say that the mom and dad don't live together. Just never divorced. That would be a bonus for the kids if Joe isn't around.

There is a very odd editorial column on HuffingtonPost about Grace Rwaramba (the nanny), written by Deepak Chopra's daughter Mallika. She says that Rwaramba approved the column before it was put up, and in it she says that Rwaramba does NOT wish to seek custody, but that she does get along with Katherine Jackson and is willing to help out where needed.

Rwaramba had been fired by Jackson a couple of weeks ago. She was apparently fired and re-hired by him quite often; it was a regular thing.

Honestly, I suspect that a judge looking at Joe Jackson's age will assume that he no longer has the physical prowess to be abusive, and ask for a promise that no corporal punishments be used. Jackson is on record as saying that he used a switch and a belt to discipline his children, but if he says that he won't do it now, I think that he would be believed, on account of being 80 years old. Personally, I doubt that would stop him for so much as a minute.

I am sure Joe was an awful father to MJ. But I don't think he was the only reason he turned out the way he did. Anyway I do believe people can change. My mom was a less then stellar parent. Howerver all that is in the past as she is the greatest granma you could want.

In my opinion....I think Joe wants custody of the kids because then he will have access to MJ's estate. I would almost bet anything MJ didn't leave Papa Joe a dime. I can see MJ making provisions for his mother but not Daddy-O.

Personally, Joe Jackson gives me the creeps, esp with the way he has had time to set up a new record company but he isn't sure when the funeral will be:confused3

Sad to have to totally agree with you.

He'll be too busy swanning around and looking for admiration from MJ's fans.

Let's just hope the kids have no talent, that'll pretty much guarantee he'll want nothing to do with them. As long as the money keeps coming in, they'll be flying under the radar.

Man, at this point, I'D take those kids just to spare them the crap they're about to go through. If you thought MJ was dysfunctional, just wait and see.

I have not been following MJ's personal life. What ever happened to the children's mother? Don't they all have the same one? Didn't he marry her at one point? Did she sign away all rights to them? I heard that she wanted them back now.

I am uncomfortable with MJ's parents having custody. I don't think they did such a great job with their own kids.
