To me, this is the perfect definition of a role model. This is what I believed we were discussing in this thread.

Yes, I posted it as my definition of a role model. The discussion is about who fits that definition. I don't believe MJ does. Working to overcome adversity and morality are two parts of my definition that I don't believe he exemplifies.

I don't believe MJ does either. The drug addiction alone would be enough to steer my kid clear of trying to emulate him.

I've had a hard time trying to find someone famous that I could give as an example of a good role model. The only ones I've come up with so far that everybody would know and not consider controversial are Pope John Paul II and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa.

WIth everyone talking about their definition of role model and who they would or wouldn't like their kids to emulate only points to one thing. No one is perfect.

Let them take their drive or talent from MJ
Let them take their kindness from the Pope
Let them take their humanitarianism from Angelina
Let them take what they like from different people and become their own role model

You did good! Its a wonderful tribute. I can see how much you admire him and his work. Gawd I'm still so sorry for his exit. I think once his kids are OK I will be able to appreciate that he's at peace now. I know he'd worry about those babies...

Yeah he really meant the world to me...
It still is killing me...
I hope his children will grow up to be strong and proud Jackson's.
And when the time comes I hope that they tell a little bit about their father.

That is my absolute FAVORITE song and video of his. He is beautiful. He should have stopped with the plastic surgeries right there. I love the rock song and his rock-star dance moves. He said that was one of his favorites from the Bad album. Love, love, love this song. It's my ringtone on my phone.
