My DS came home for spring break from college. He asked what was new and I mentioned all the bridal/baby showers I had for April/May/June. I then told him about Jason's wedding and his family will be having a Jack&Jill for them. So Mike says "whats that?" and I explain. I never mentioned it was a surprise. (OMG) That was 3 days ago. Today Jason stopped by to see DH (they/we are all in the construction business) and while I was answering the phone and taking messages I heard Mike say so what is up with this Jack & Jill party thingy. I was so busy on the phone yet I could hear and it appeared that Jason looked rather surprised but the conversation shifted quickly as he brought up their honeymoon plans and then his cell rang and he had to go.(this entire converation took 5 mins and it was inside the front door) I did not know what to do. My son's friend has stopped over and they are talking college right now...but what should I do...NOTHING...as the damage is done. Should I tell Mike that this was a surprise and he blew it...OMG! Does anyone think that Jason MAY already have an idea...and Mike really didn't screw this whole event UP!!! Do I say nothing to anyone, do I tell my DH as he is best best friends with Jason's dad....ugh....Jason and his DGF are both 35 and a second marriage for both....not that that matters....but UGH....I am so confused. I never thought Mike would run into Jason as he goes to college out of state and Mike is rarely here.....buutttt...I feel so bad right now. :sad2:

I'd just tell your son it was supposed to be a surprise and not to mention it again and leave it at that.

I was so upset while on the phone taking a message I think I had 20 hot flashes in that instant...I feel so bad

I just pulled out the invitation again and all over it it says SHHH!!! SURPRISE in HUGE letters..............ugh. :sad2:

Well, the bride and groom probably expected some sort of shower, anyway. Did Michael tell Jason when or where it was going to be? If not, it will still be a surprise.

Don't beat yourself up over it. :goodvibes

I wouldn't stress over it. You know how men are, I doubt the groom even put the pieces together. If by chance he did I doubt he'll say anything to his fiance and that's who will care the most about the surprise anyway. I'd maybe just tell your son not to say anything more because you want the bride to be surprised.

Thanks for the replies. No, it seemed before I actually got off the phone the conversation shifted over to honeymoon destinations..i.e. hawaii etc etc and then I returned to the front door and joined them in a minor honeymoon discussion, Jason's cell rang, Mike's friend walked in the door...everyone goes in a different direction......and I am thrown about all this...I had to come here to the DIS Boards to vent....ugh...!!! :sad2:

That is EXACTLY what I am hoping...that Jason knows enough to keep this much he has found out today to himself and not spoil the surprise any further.

I am planning on telling Mike to keep quiet from now on about this, he is a typical male as well and probably had no idea this was something that you do NOT mention at all. (he still has his buddy over) and I also know Mike would NEVER want to ruin a surprise...but really this is all my fault forgetting to tell Mike NOT TO MENTION THIS AT ALL........ugh.....thanks for listening.... :guilty:
