Mice!

We have at least one mouse in our garage and I can't seem to catch him!

I have the traps in all of the usual places. I'm putting a small amount of peanut butter under the metal plate as well as inside the little curve of the plate and every morning, the peanut butter is gone and the trap is still set. In the past, this has always worked. The mice are getting smarter so I need some new suggestions.

I don't want to use Decon because I'm afraid that if they get in the house, they will die inside a wall and smell. Last year we had one that must have been in our attic and somehow fell down our fireplace. We would hear him squealing and scratching for about 4 days and when he died, the smell was bad for a day or two.

I've used the sticky traps but I can't stand the squealing sound they make as they are trying to get off.

Any suggestions?

I live in the woods and mice are a constant when the weather changes. The glue traps work more consistently every time. Maybe your trap isnt working? You could just have some really smart mice! Could someone else in the house collect the sticky trap so you dont have to? Good luck!

Get a Q-Tip, cut it in half. Place the Q-tip in the trap, with the cotton thing sticking out.

Mice are looking for bedding. They have to pull on the Q-tip to try and get the bedding.

I have a havahart trap. They sell them at Gaiam.com. You put a little peanut butter on a cracker and put it inside and close the top. The mouse goes inside to get the cracker and can't get out. You then just take him (or her) outside or for a little ride and release.

Hey thats entrapment! They do love to pull at all types of things for bedding so its a great 'tip'. They once emptied the contents of my ferrets bedding bag to go build a home in my house somewhere!

starwood, I have one of those for squirrels and never thought about one for mice. I will make sure I tell my husband to pick one up, it is much kinder. Thank you.
