I rally hate even asking this but...

So is FJ a roller coaster? I thought it was just a simulated motion ride. :confused3

I can't do coasters at all - not even Goofy's Barnstormer.

I was reading on another thread that both MIB and FJ are roller coasters, and am now worried that I won't be able to go on them. :sad2:

Neither are coasters.

Men in Black has vehicles that move through different scenes and you shoot aliens.

FJ has robotic vehicles that move through different scenes and you are manipulated around in every which direction other than upside down.

Ok - cool :thumbsup2 I should be ok on both then. :)

FJ was actually completely hurl-worthy for me! I broke into a cold sweat on that thing - it was awful for me. It was the motion combined with the simulated images...maybe my brain doesn't like them teamed up. :confused3

Goofy's Barnstormer - did it 12 times over two days with the kids. Makes me a little queasy, but nothing too bad.

Be carefuly with FJ, and let us know how it goes! FWIW, I just asked my 8 year old which tossed him around more, and it was FJ without any hesitation. It is not just a motion simulator, if you're thinking of the box that shows you an image on the screen up front.

My wife can't do coasters either, she went on the Mummy that is part coaster and hated it. Convinced her to go on MIB and FJ and liked them.

Had the same experience.

Well I'm really looking forward to going on some of these rides. It looks like I can do more at US/IoA than I can do anywhere else. :3dglasses

So while we're on the subject and since you all are being hugely helpful :goodvibes can anyone tell me if Flight of the Hippograff is like Goofy's Barnstormer? Specifically, is it as fast? It looks like it's slower than Goofy's. that's on my list of rides to try too. That one and Pternadon Flyers (if adults are allowed to ride that is) :flower3:

They are very similar, as is the Woody Woodypecker kiddie coaster over at the Studios.

As for Pteranadon, one adult is allowed to ride with each child who meets the height requirements. If the child is too short or too tall, they will not be allowed to ride.

Yikes! So either I shrink DS10 or try to borrow a kid? I don't think that's going to go over too well.... :rotfl:

ETA: He's just 54" so whew! I hope he doesn't grow before our trip!

Looks like the height window is 36" to 56", so you should be good, unless your trip is quite a ways out. I recommend you search YouTube for first-person video of any ride you're not sure about. Pteranadon is slow and mild, but does swing a bit from left to right as you go (you are hanging from the track).

Yup, don't know why, but FJ was absolutely awful for me. I spent the last 3/4 of the ride just hoping I wouldn't do the technicolor yawn! I was literally thinking to myself "no protein spill, no protein spill..." the whole time. LOL!

And FWIW, I love RnRC, ToT, BTMRR, Soarin', Test Track, EE, the old Star Tours, etc. FJ was just different in a way that my body really, REALLY didn't like. :confused3

I spent a significant portion of the FJ ride just staring at a stationary portion of the seat/ride vehicle, trying not to focus on the screen action at all. It really seemed the ride motion combined with the visuals was what set me off. It was terrible for me, and yet my 8yo enjoyed it...not enough to want to do it twice, but he thought it was cool.

That's really good advice! :goodvibes The YouTube video is what made me want to ride it. I've looked at so many ride videos that it's only making me want to go more!

Pteranadon Flyers looks sooo cool hanging up there in the air. And you're really high up. Now I'm afraid of heights, but think this ride will be ok. :goodvibes

Sorry you had a bad reaction to the ride! I don't think I'll eat before I try it...

I like the part in Philharmagic where you swoop down off of the tower and "fly" - the sensation is thrilling to me, and I really love that part. I'm going by the roller coaster people who don't like this ride. For some reason I think it gives me a better chance of liking it. :rotfl:

Hoping this isn't a double or triple post as it keeps freezing on me:

I went on MIB and felt sick for a couple of days afterwards, they spin you around ALOT on there. I think other cars can shoot your vehicle and make you spin more or less...I won't be going on there again, though I did like all the theming in the queue.

Yep we wanted to ride the Peteranadon Flyers too. It was a business trip for one and I was a tagalong so no kids in tow. We thought about borrowing some:lmao: but after watching at least two standing in the soak zone for JP River, and trying to outrun huge waves of water we figured they might try to parachute off of the Flyer....:rotfl2: so we skipped it.

I really wanted to try it too, I think it looks like flying through the movie set of JP!

FJ? My sister felt REALLY bad after this ride and I heard a LOT of people saying it made them queasy. This came from a person who rides every coaster out there with no qualms.

FJ is great but I thought there was too much movement. It did not make me queasy.
I was trying to get a good look at all the scenes and every time I had a good view the bench would move again.
I really liked the Chamber of Secrets scenes. . . . .

I agree. I thought it would be nice if you would just slow down through some of the scenes.

Supposedly it's flying on a broomstick.

I usually fly pretty fast on mine, particularly on Halloween!:rolleyes1

Same here. OK I don't yet love RnRC, but I like CA Screamin', and many other non-extreme coasters...

And while going on Spiderman was a HUGE mistake after the FJ experience (about 2 hours in between), the *next* time I went on Spiderman it was fine.

I'll try FJ again, someday, give it a second chance...

The beginning of FJ, when you have the feeling that you are really really flying was awesome. That was the good 1/4 that Dis Dreamin and I weren't sick for LOL. It's the whole rest of the ride....

I'm also an arachnophobe, and spending that part of the ride with my eyes shut and face covered might have helped the nausea along.
