Miami ???

We are going on a cruise with my girlfriends family that leaves from Miami this fall. The two of us want to fly down days eary and leave days later so that we can have some sort of a vaction with just the two of us. Could anyone recomend any hotels there? We are very much W hotel people but they do not have one there, so something along those lines? And maybe some recomendations on what to do , where to go? Thanks!!

I love Miami and I have been there many times over the past few years. A cute hotel I almost always stay at is The Townhouse : http://townhousehotel.com/
Everything is red and white, free coffee, hard boiled eggs and muffins in the morning. Very beachy, young and fun. The sushi at the Bond Street Lounge downstairs is great. Good location, clean and easygoing.

The most amazing hotels : Delano, Shore Club, Tides, Sagamore and The Raleigh are the trendiest...and the priciest..expect about 300$-350$ a night.

If you will have a car, The Standard just opened a spa-resort a bit further away

If you want to get pampered a bit, but it is very isolated.

I love strolling Lincoln at night, tons of shops, restaurants and bars. Lots o' gays. I also enjoy drinks at the various hotel bars like The SHore Club or Delano.

I've only stayed in Miami once, but when we were there, we stayed at the Sheraton Bal Harbor (Sorry if I didn't spell it right for those from Miami.)
I loved it, the grounds were huge, the pool was big, AND there was a bar right off the pool. And they had a pathway to the beach from there. And the grounds, like I said, were great because they have a waterfall and a slide into one of the pools. Just my opinion.

Well, the Sheraton Bal Harbour was torn down last year and will be rebuilt as a St Regis, I believe.

Other hotel recommendations I might make are the Ritz Carlton South Beach and the Loews.

Has it been THAT LONG since I've been to Miami?!?! I guess that's what happens when everytime you think of vacationing in Florida you think of Orlando. Oy. I need to expand my destinations again!

I've stayed at the Intercontinental and it is pretty close to the port of Miami.

It's Deco and very nice. Not ridiculously overpriced. Far enough from South Beach so you don't feel over done, but close enough so that you can visit.

Be sure to go to Little Havana. They have the BEST food!
