Miami Port hotel with shuttle and walkable to real Cuban food?

Is it a pipe dream? I'm researching Miami hotels for our night bevore stay. I was leaning towards Comfort Suites or Residence Inn because value is important for me. They have shuttles and free breakfast

However I've also read that even if there was good Cuban food around, it's not an area you want to walk around.

Flip side, hotels closer to the port seem to not offer a port shuttle or breakfast, which seems weird.

I need to go with the most cost effective option, so it may not even be possible, but I was thinking that if we're in Miami, I'd love to try some authentic Cuban cuisine.

There is a new Hampton Inn (I think Midtown Miami or something) that is walkable to Estefan Kitchen in the Design District which has AMAZING Cuban food.

I don't know if they have a shuttle to the port, but it should not be more than a $20 or so Lyft. Most hotels I have found that have a shuttle do charge for it...

I wouldn't limit yourself to hotels with shuttles. In fact, most of them in downtown Miami don't have a shuttle. A taxi from downtown Miami to the port is around $10.

We just took an Uber out for Cuban food for dinner - it was very inexpensive. We went to Versailles and it was delish.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites Miami Airport, which offered free airport shuttle, free port shuttle, and decent free breakfast. Not walking distance to much but the savings on the room/shuttles easily afforded an Uber out for whatever we needed.

We stayed at the comfort suites. They picked us up at the airport, and took us to the hotel with their free shuttle. That evening, we walked down to the airport café for some great Cuban food. I did not feel unsafe walking there. They shuttled us to the cruise port the next day, and after the cruise, we took a taxi to the airport......jonathan
