that's not over $200 a night?? thank you

near or on the ocean... would be perfect!

My sister and I stayed here http://www.thehotelofsouthbeach.com/ last February. It is one block off the ocean. The rooms were clean and we loved the rooftop pool and bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the one concierge, David. Our room also included the rental of lounge chairs and one umbrella on the beach which was heavenly. This is definitely not a family-friendly area but a perfect vacation spot for adults.

Love, love, love the Fontainebleau. Rooms are expensive, but it might be worth checking for specials or package deals. It is so beautiful there and the service is top notch.

We have stayed at both the Fountaine Bleu and The Grand Beach Hotel. The Fountaine Bleu gave us a lovely view of the parking lot..I was not impressed. I loved loved loved the Grand Beach hotel. It's a smaller hotel and very modern, and the first time we stayed we got a free upgrade to a suite...it was awesome. I have been to the Grand Beach twice and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

bump.

anyone have a rec for around $200 a night? :faint:

The Intercontinental is just beautiful! The normal price of the hotel is pretty high, but you can get it on hotwire if you know what to look for for a dang good price. We got two rooms for $69 each last year before our cruise. It's awesome. Good luck:cool1:

If you want on the beach at this time of year you are probably going to have to pay $200+.

Now if you don't mind staying closer to north beach you can probably get a room on the beach for a decent price. We stayed at the Howard Johnson Dezerland for about $100/night and it is right on the beach and has a lovely pool. It's not the fanciest nor the most modern but if you're just looking for a place to sleep and bathe then you can't beat it.

I suggest tripadvisor .com (no space). It's hard to recommend a place without dates because at certain peak times, even dumps are expensive. We stayed in South Beach in January before a cruise and booked 9 months out at a AAA rate of $179 at Blue Moon Autograph hotel which is a Marriott brand. Quaint, small, but newly refurbished and clean, 1 block from the ocean and from the happenings at the Clevelander Hotel. We would definitely stay again.
