Miami area Malls??

I am leaving from Miami on Sat for a cruise and arriving the day prior...

Are there any good Malls with major dept stores that would be a reasonable cab ride away? Even outdoor good shopping?? I know there is 'Bayside' which we think we'll hit for supper and evening browsing.........but someplace during the day would be great!!

There is one mall that we always go to just to look around. It's called Bel Harbor I think. The only thing is that all the stores are the top designers. They have Neiman Marcus, Versaci (sp?), Tiffany, Guess, Fendi, Gucci, all the designers that celebrities wear on the red carpet. It is a beautiful mall. It is set up really cool. It is like semi-outdoor. Very weird.

BTW, Bayside has a Disney Store (usually a little crowded, but I can never just pass up the Disney Store LOL). If you eat dinner there, I reccomend Bubba Gumps. We go there every time we are in Miami. Also, if you like shopping for purses like I do, they have a whole store devoted to cool purses. I love that store.

About 11 miles away is a fantastic shopping mall called Dadeland, it has many major dept. stores including Macy's, Nordstroms, Saks, JC Penneys. And many other smaller chain stores, like Gap, Victoria Secrets... This is a link about the site...http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=138

Bal Harbor sounds like 'Mall at the Millenia' in Orlando....chi-chi and the prices to go along with that!

Have you tried maybe going to South Beach, Its a great area to walk aorund, they have lots of nice Stores, The Gap, Sephora and others Lots of Speacialty stores and Great restaurants, may be a Celeberty sighting or too......There is also a new mall that opened called the Dolphin Mall as well.....You can also go into Downtown Miami they have a Macy's there and the Metromover drops you off......Have fun and please be carefull.....Keep your eyes and ears open at all times......Dont carry alot of cash with you, Tis the season for robbery's and stuff, people are being followed and stuff, and if they know you are atuorist its worse , They love to target out of towners, Hubby is a Police officer and they just had so many robberies around here its been nuts........

I think we'll stick to minimum credit cards and very little cash. Maybe forego a purse and keep it on ourselves? You can never be too careful and it's good to be reminded of that!

Sawgrass Mills has great deals but may be a little further away. We hated spending a half day inside a mall while the weather outside was beautiful.

There is http://www.villageofmerrickpark.com/ in Coral Gables. It has upscale shops, but has a nice ambiance, probably very nice this time of year.

Honestly, though, Bal Harbour is a beautiful mall. We have gone there every trip to Miami. We have never been into any of the stores other than Neiman Marcus and the Gap, though. LOL. If you have a little bit of time to kill, go check it out. They have little fish ponds in it. Here is a website for it if you want to look. www.balharbourshops.com
