We were in WDW in March and went into the playground that had the boneyard sign on it. I searched that whole playground and even exited and circled around the outside of the attraction from Chester and Hesters all the way to the entrance to Dinoland and could not find anywhere to dig for dinosaur bones. In the guide books and on this site it has been described as a sandbox type thing with bones in it that you can uncover. My son was dissapointed we couldn't find it and I should have asked at the time, but I figured I must have just misunderstood. Does digging for bones exist and where is it? :confused3

Isn't the boneyard in the Animal Kingdom? MGM Studios has the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" playground.

That may have been the issue?

Yes, the Boneyard is at AK. It was in the play area with all the slides and ropes and stuff. Seems like you had to cross a rope bridge or 2 to get there. Can anyone shed some more light on this?

As soon as you enter the playground with the slides. You make a left and go up the stairs (as if you are playing on the sturcture) and then cross over the bridge that you walk under to enter dino land (the one with the dino skeleton on it). Once you cross the bridge you will see a huge covered area with sand with dino bones under the sand. It really is a great way to get out of the sun and relax while the kids dig for awhile.

You have to go into the playground area and take the steps up to the second level . From there you have to take the bridge over to the other side in order to dig for the bones. That is the only way to get to it.

oops, of course I meant Animal Kingdom. Thanks for the responses, I guess as it is up a level that is why I couldn't see it from outside. I should've have asked the CM at the entrance.

If I recall correctly, the bridge from the Boneyard playground to the dig site takes you directly under the huge Brachiosaurus skeleton. My DH and DS found it, but it really should be marked better. I'm sure lots of people miss it, since it's tucked away from the rest of the playground.
