MGM TO Hollwood Studios?

I was aksed this by my mother and I forgot the answer,why did Disney change the name to disney hollywood studios? ,,I forgot.

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with their contract with MGM or maybe just ending their partnership with MGM.

I'm actually surprised the name wasn't changed to Disney Pixar Hollywood Studios or something else with Pixar in the name.

I'm thinking they didn't want to add another company name in case that partnership ever ends, then they would have to change the name again.

I wish they had just called it Disney Studios. Just because Disney Hollywood Studios is so long and DHS doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as MGM did. I think they probably wanted to play up the 'hollywood' connection given the streetmosphere characters, street names, restaurants, the whole movie connection. I find myself calling it 'Studios' instead of DHS or the whole long name.

I think Disney Pixar Studios would have been great! I don't think a partnership would have been an issue because doesn't Disney OWN Pixar now. The partnership ended and then Disney bought them, if I remember correctly.

Generally, the relationship was a contentious one for years, marked by litigation over the right to the "MGM" mark and the confusion caused by the building of the MGM hotel in Las Vegas. There was a settlement.

It was not the stuff dreams are made of.

My understanding was Sony bought MGM and didn't wanna work with Disney, so no more Disney MGM studios.
