Is this possible? If so, do we get to the international gateway?
How long does it take?

Is it better to go by bus?

Middle of afternoon we will be going

Yes, it is possible.

The boat makes stops at the Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach Club, and the Boardwalk before proceeding to the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT. I don't know the exact timing but I would guess anywhere between 30 to 40 minutes total.

I may be wrong but I don't think there is a bus from MGM to EPCOT.

There are buses to and from Epcot and MGM and they are usually faster then taking the boats. If you are not in a hurry it is definetly a nice way to go (the boats).

Its about 40 minutes - You can also walk to Epcot from MGM as well.

The boat operator (captain? skipper? pilot?...whatever) announced a 35 minute trip from MGM to Epcot International Gateway when I took it last week. You could probably walk it in very close to the same time (assuming no small children to slow you down and that you don't stop at Big River or ESPN Club for a quick beer along the way). Actually, this could be quite a bit of fun, if you left MGM at the same time as the boat departed, since the boat would arrive at the Swan/Dolphin well ahead of you, but then have to unload/load there, at the Y&BC, and finally at the BW before going on to Epcot. I suspect you would arrive at the BW while the boat was still at Y&B and might not pass you as you walk along the canal to Epcot.
