Does anyone have any idea how long it would take to go from one to the other using Disney transportation? I am trying to decide if it is worth doing dinner at Epcot, where there are lots of restaurants we want to try, on an MGM day. Thanks for your help!

There is a boat launch at MGM that will take you to Epcot (however it does stop first at the Swan, the Boardwalk and the Yacht and Beach Club before going to the International Gateway at Epcot.) To ride the boat the whole way would probably take between 20 and 30 minutes. You can also do a brisk walk and make it in 15-20 minutes.

I don't think there is a bus from MGM to EPCOT. You can take the boat to the Boardwalk and get the boat to Epcot or you can walk. I would probably take the boat to Boardwalk then walk to EPCOT. You arrive at the World Showcase entrance at Epcot.

Don't forget to add in 15 minutes to get out of MGM and walk to the boat dock or the Epcot pathway, and 15 minutes to get through Epcot's International Gateway turnstyles and reach the closest restaurants (France and UK). If you want to eat in Mexico, and another 15 minutes.

From MGM's big hat to Chefs de France would take nearer a full hour.

When we were at BWV last fall, it took us about 13 minutes to walk to the turnstiles in MGM. It is about an 8 minute walk to International Gateway from BWV...so I would think that you could easily walk from MGM to WS in about 30 minutes. Just be aware that it can get hot on that path to MGM. Not a lot of shade. The boat is a nice alternative. Not quick but it is nice and relaxing.

Hi Andrew,

I have to respectfully disagree...we've done it many times (most recently 3 weeks ago). We walked from Canada in the World Showcase to Hollywood and Vine in MGM and it took us about 40 minutes. We got from from the Epcot turnstile to the MGM turnstile in about 25 minutes. Granted, we walk at a brisk pace, but unless the parks are very crowded it can be done in well under an hour.

I had the same question in my brain. But for me I am going to be at MGM and want to go watch Illiminations at 9. So my question was answered and I didn't even have to ask except how early do you want to be to see Illiminations (so I can plan what time to leave MGM) Thinking of taking the boat and where is a good place to watch? I leave Thursday WOW!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I timed the boat trip from MGM to IGW and it took 24 minutes dock to dock. This was during the winter season. You now stay on the same boat and not change boats like you did a few years ago.

We always walk between Epcot and MGM rather than using Disney transportation. From the International Gateway at Epcot to the MGM entrance is ~a 20 minute walk for us (I am known to be a fast walker, so it may be a bit longer). My son and I walked back and forth between Epcot and MGM probably 10 times during our Spring Break trip in March. A few times we spent part of the day at one park and then walked to Beaches and Cream for lunch/dinner before continuing on to the next park (just to keep up our strength!!). I love to walk and the weather was beautiful, so I didn't mind at all. There have been times in the summer when the walk does seem a bit longer since it's over 90º .

Wanted to add that there are numerous excellent restaurants in the boardwalk area. You may want to consider this rather than walk or boat all the way to Epcot. Check out the menus on allearsnet.com for the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin. You will find a lot of choices with great variety.
