I have a friend who is going to WDW for the first time ever w/ her DS6, DD9 and DD8. She can only go to two parks and MK is a definite. Which other park would you choose AK or MGM. She is going the last weekend in October.

Thanks!!

MGM, albeit I may be a bit bias. But seriously, there is more to do at MGM and it has some signature Disney attractions (Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Fantasmic!, Great Movie Ride, et al)

That was my response to her. She is leaning to AK because her kids love animals.

depends what they are into... AK is definately great for an animal lover... but if her kids are big on Disney movies... the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story and such, they will really enjoy MGM... to me MGM has the most magical feel of the 3 remaining parks... MK being the most magical place in the world!

Id pick MGM over AK too. AK is a one day, tops, park for us. We usually spend 2 days in MGM. Actually, In January.. we can get in and out in 1/2 a day.

I'd pick MGM over AK any day and my girls love animals too. Some trips we even skip AK.

At MGM we love ToT, RnR, Fantasmic, Beauty and the Beast show, Ariel show, the parade, Great movie ride, Muppet 3-D, Honey I shrunk the kids playground etc...

At AK, the only things we like there are the Safari ride and the Lion King Show.

Well, I guess my vote goes against the group. I'd pick AK. We love the park and all it has to offer. However, if her kids like the thrill rides then I guess MGM. Our family could skip MGM completely if it weren't for Fantasmic.

I'd skip AK, although it depends what you are into. We like rides. The safari didn't do it for me, Dinosaur was just loud and we didn't want to get wet on Kali, so the best ride was Primeval Whirl. The atmosphere was nice but I wouldn't waste a day there for one ride unless you split the day between both parks. If you are not into the rides so much, then you might like it.

What about a park hopper with 1/2 of the day at the AK and the other half at MGM.

hopping is not an option

Since Epcot is out of the question :),

My DD7 is a HUGE animal lover and a thrillseeker as well. During our last trip, she visited both MGM and AK for the first times. We had an opportunity to visit one of them for a second time before we departed for home, and she picked MGM for the thrill rides (ToT and Rock N Roller Coaster). AK was awesome for some of the animal encounters, but was very lacking in the ride department (other than Safari and Primevil Whirl...she didn't want to do Dinosaur). MGM combined the best of the rides (ToT, RnRC) with some great shows (VotLM, Stunt Show, Beauty & Beast, Fantasmic!).

So my vote is for MGM!

I would also say that AK in a one day park and we ae normally done with everything way before it closes! My younger ones really like AK and my older ones love MGM. We are doing 2 days at MGM this year!

I would have to say MGM, for Fanatasmic alone! We really did not get into AK, of course, my kids could give or take a trip to the zoo.. We were in & out of AK in 4 hours, MGM we spent 1 1/2 days at..

I have dd's 4, 6 & 8 yrs old.. Are her kids thrill seekers?? Def. MGM then! The last thing we did at WDW was Fantasmic, all I can saw is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to say MGM...although AK is nice and the Safari is neat...that's about all there is...MGM has RRC, TOT, etc....my guess..the kids will love MGM!

Have a blast!

We enjoy AK much more than MGM. For us, MGM is a 1/2 day park at most- we could do 2 full days at AK, though.

Your friend's kids ages and the fact that they are animal lovers makes me think they would like AK more than MGM.
